Day 14

26th Feb

St Thomas
Had to be up to clear immigration by 7.30am not as bad as the Disney Magic.
DM & DD had been here before, twice, so to do something different we went to St John and I’m glad we did. Most of it is a National Park and pretty unspoilt. We got a taxi to Red Hook, ferry (15 mins) to Cruz Bay then a taxi to Cinnamon Beach which was quieter than the closer trunk beach. I’m glad we went here as it was exactly like the photos of Caribbean beaches, positively idyllic. There were no beach chairs or Umbrellas, there was a campsite in the woods beside the beach also a general store and small restaurant. It started getting busier after lunchtime but still wasn’t anything like busy. There were some fantastic shops around Cruz Bay, I could have put my credit card into serious meltdown had I not lost it. We went back by the longer ferry into Charlotte Amalie which looked like a fun place, we didn’t get to see it though as we were all too hot by then (86) and the boys wanted to go back to the ship. Theres nothing worse than looking at shops with 2 whining boys beside you so we quit while we were ahead.
By the was Disney Magic was tied up behind us today, when she was getting ready to leave the horn played “When You Wish Upon a Star”
One Day.

Day 15
27th Feb

At Sea
Even hotter today. We didn’t even eat that much. Cocktails with the (Scottish) Captain tonight. The men in our party were all in their kilts as it was the 2nd formal night. The Americans were all commenting on us.

Day 16
28th Feb

Princess Keys.
A private resort on Eleuthera in the Bahamas. 2600 bodies from the ship decamped onto a (very hot) beach. Nevertheless it was great fun. Watersports, snorkelling etc. Beach BBQ, bar service and kids club.
Sail away was 3 pm and as we had done the majority of our packing the previous night we had the pool to ourselves. After dinner we went to the show with the boys. One late night wouldn’t hurt.

Day 17
1st March
Going Home
Didn’t have to clear immigration until we disembarked (this is when I was glad I wasn’t on the Disney Magic) at around 9.30am.
All the 49 people from the UK were put on 2 coaches and taken on a tour of South Beach in Miami, which was interesting but we had expected to spend the day at a hotel in the pool. We had lunch at the hotel and were then taken to a new Mall. We had done all our shopping in Orlando but those who had just been on the cruise had fun.
Got to the airport to find that yet again we had been given 5 & 1 seats and there was no way the man would change them. It turned out not too bad as Dad took the single which was beside the wing exit and he could stretch his legs, me DH and DS2 took the 3 at the window and DM &DS1 took the 2 across the aisle.
Flew home in just under 7 hours. Got to BA check in and guess what yes 5 & 1 again. This time they changed it. Got in to Edinburgh 25 mins early, not bad on a supposed 1 ½ hr flight.

And that’s it really. No plans to go back as yet. DD & DM are worried about travelling now and its their timeshare, so we’ll leave it a couple of weeks and discuss it then just before the flights go on sale.

Sounds like a wonderful time was had. Fingers crossed for your nxtw trip :D
