scotts ez seed grass seed

HI, I bought Scotts EZ Seed grass seed and I was just wondering if any1 has ever used this product? If so....does it really grow anywhere? It is advertised as it is able to grow anywhere in any conditions even on concrete! I have an area off of my patio that I have layed down paper and put mulch on top of it. Over the years the mulch has somewhat washed away and the paper is now exposed. The soil under the paper is horrible. We have alot of rocks in our soil. I was wondering if I could just lay down the ez seed on top of the mulch and paper or do i have to remove the mulch and paper b4 applying the seed? Thanks

Why wouldn't you just refresh the mulch? I just have to ask.

Does it say what the grass type is or what the "super absorbent" material is on the label?

Ideally removing the mulch and newspaper is probably a good idea. As well as raking the soil a bit for the grass to establish.

I might have to get this for myself to repair my "dog spots". I would like to see it grow through that.

the mulch is too messy. Every time I have a party outside people track the mulch into my house. Thats why I was thinking I would put grass right up to my deck. This grass seed was expensive. I think it was $30 for a small bag. I have researched it on the net, some people say it works and I have also found some bad reviews on it. I guess I'll just have to wait and see!

Yes, I am sure it is expensive. Here is my 2 cents for you.

Ideally you should return the seed.

Then clean up the mulch and paper, rake the area remove large rocks add some potting soil on top and then lay sod down.

It is instant. Grass seed growing is slow. Also it is getting to be late in the season here for seed.

In addition since this is up against a patio, where you have parties and people walk on it you are now going to crush your seedlings.

Sod is what you should do for the area you describe.
