Scooter advice - Broken foot 2.5 weeks till trip

I have a trip planned on June 5th and broke my foot this past Saturday. I am in a walking boot and will rent a scooter to help with getting around. I want to rent from an outside source - not Disney since they might run out. I have looked at reviews for Scooter Bug which seems to be the only company that Disney lets drop off at Bell Hop without me having to be there when it arrives. The reviews for Scooter Bug are a mixed bunch with lots of problems lately (it looks like). I have also looked at Gold Mobility and their reviews seem very good. I am looking for recommendations of who to rent fromand and advice on 4 wheel vs 3 wheel, Gold Mobility even offers a free canopy but I am not sure if it would just be in the way. Please chime in with recommendations and advice. Thanks!
I have used Scooter Bug twice in the last year and they have been great!! Get the 4 wheeler as it would be more sturdy. A free canopy would be nice, but you can also use your own umbrella.

As someone who’s been to the parks with a broken foot, I just wanted to chime in two non-ECV-related bits of advice. I found it very helpful to take a long, leisurely lunch break in the middle of the day during which to elevate my foot. Also, if you’re taking medication for pain and inflammation, I found it helpful to stay on a medication schedule instead of waiting for symptoms to appear.

P.S. an ice pack in the room at the end of the day was also nice.

Getting mixed reviews on the sun canopy and rear basket.
Can anyone give their opinion on if one or the other is beneficial vs more of a pain when dealing with transportation and/or other spots like restaurants and such??

seems many say they are not worth the hassle involved due to the extra size.

PS I noticed GM has a discount code option during check out, if anyone has a code to share, Pm me

I use the rear basket and had a discussion with Gold Mobility about it the other day. It does add length to your ECV, and he said that if you rent the Pride Mobility, you could often run into an issue with the total length and have to remove the rear basket on buses. However, on the smaller Go-Go Sport, which I rent, it's never been an issue for me. I love my rear basket! I've never rented the sun canopy. I've heard lots of negative comments, partially due to visibility (lack of it). I hate the sun, but I find it fine to just find a patch of shade and "scoot" over there.

Personally, I tried a sunshade exactly once, and after that, never used one again.

What I found was that there is a very small part of the day when the sun is directly overhead, and the sunshade does a good job. The rest of the day (before and after) the sun will be shining at an angle - and so unless you are always traveling away from the sun during that part of the day, you *will* get sun underneath the shade. Additionally, not only does it make it more difficult to back up (if needed) but for me, it meant I had to duck under every time I got on, and then kind of duck my head and bend over to get out. It's not exactly like getting out of a car (for me at least) it involves more bending over.

It also makes the scooter feel HUGE in your hotel room - and you will have to put in the room every night, to charge it fully overnight. It's weird - the scooter takes up exactly the same amount of floor space, but that sunshade makes the scooter feel like it is ENORMOUS LOL.
