We were planning on dining at Ohana for dinner one night. How is the place? Is the food decent. Would be doing it on Dining plan, but since it is at Poly thought we could do a later dinner and then watch Wishes from the beach, and get a diffrent view.

Any suggestions, or comments on this would be geat.

Thanks to all in advance!!!!:)

We love Ohana. It was very good food. The wings are absolutely wonderful! And the sauces they serve with them....mmmm mmmm, makes my mouth water just thinking of them.
I also love the noodles that come as a side, oh and the bread, goodness where does it end....not there for sure.
Once the meat starts coming in you don't know what to eat next.
The turkey we had was so moist and smokey tasting. Only bad thing I experienced was when the steak came it was over done for my taste, but I asked for med rare and he was back in mins with some for me. Then I was set.
It really is a feast, ending with the best bread pudding I have ever had. I usually don't like bread pudding, but theirs I had 2 helpings of!! Very good, you won't be disappointed.

Love the place! Awesome food!

We are going again in December & we were tempted to eat there two times!

The view from there is great. We had a window seat & could watch the castle change colors as we ate.

Is noisy & kids chase coconuts around the room w/ a broom & play other games...but is still fun even for a couple w/o kids like we were that night.

We love Ohana!!! We have been three diffrent times ( breakfast, dinner, & Thanksgiving dinner). We are actually going twice this trip. On Thanksgiving Day for our big group dinner and then again just the family for our last dinner at Disney!!! My DH would not miss it for anything... You will not be disappointed!!:wizard:

We usually eat at Ohana at least once every trip.

Try to schedule your reservation so that you are there while the fireworks are being done. Check in early and ask for a window seat so that you can see the fireworks right from your table.

We just ate there for the first time a couple of weeks ago. We had a group of 12 with us and were celebrating my Dad's 60th Birthday.
I LOVED it!!! I was so excited that I picked this place for his b-day dinner. It couldn't have been more perfect. The food was amazing!!!!
There were a lot of fun activites to keep the kids busy. They got to dance, sing and do the limbo. While we were eating dessert, the fireworks were going off and we could see them from our table. It was a great way to celebrate a special b-day and a great way to end the night.
I would highly recommend eating here!!!

WoW!!! It was wonderful & we really enjoyed Ohanas. Def another "must-do" for our family. Chef TJ did the most awesome spread for my veggie DH & DS10 who is a "Macaroniatarian". Great staff, lovely atmosphere and yummy food---and PLENTY of it!

Ohana has the best dessert ever. All the sauces and meats are fantastic, but the shrimp make the meal for me. Enjoy one of Disney's best!

We've done 'Ohanas for both breakfast and dinner. Just did dinner 2 weeks ago, and have mixed feelings.
The salad and bread came and both were fantastic, Pot Stickers/Dumplings, wings and noodles came and they were also fantastic! It could have ended there and I would have been happy.:goodvibes
The skewer meat came, I enjoyed the turkey fine (maybe I was getting full now), the pork(?) was alright, and the steak was tough and overdone. I didn't try the shrimp, and was surprised that the shrimp lovers in my party never asked for more. My DH said that the shrimp was tough and hard to shell.
Our server was overwhelmed, and we hated to ask for something because she seemed stressed. She did sing "Happy Birthday" for my DGS when I asked her about it. I had noted it on the ressie, but few places acknowledged it.
I would try it again, but not a must do.

I agree with every word of this! We LOVE Ohana from the salad, appetizers, main entrees, dessert and the entertainment. It's a must do for us on each trip.

We did early ressies and watched wishes on the beach last year. One of the best nights of the trip! Enjoy!

I hesitated to post this, because it's so negative in spite of all these positive reviews, but... maybe it will add another perspective.
We didn't care for Ohana's for either bkfst or dinner when we tried it last May. It was ok - but not someplace we would want to experience again.
We are a family of 2 grandparents & 2 grandchildren, ages 4 & 7.
Breakfast was just fair. We were seated in the "main" dining room. The character interaction was also just fair - maybe we're just not into the Lilo & Stitch thing. The food was less than fair - the eggs were lukewarm and the sausages had an "off" taste. The price for the 4 of us was over $60.00 for breakfast food we really ate less than 1/4 of.
The dinner was a little worse - I can't say that we REALLY enjoyed any offerings for this mediocre meal costing well over $100. The bread was pretty good - things went downhill from there. Drsg on the salad was far too sweet for our tastes - definitely not balanced by the lime juice. Chix wings were sweet, but decent. Potstickers were dry as hockey pucks! Meat skewers were not great - but not exactly bad, either. Shrimp skewers were almost inedible - dry, tasting of iodine, and difficult to peel. The noodles were a total disaster - dry & well past their prime! They'd been prepared for quite some time before they were served, and they suffered greatly! The dessert was pretty good actually, but not good enough to redeem the meal.
Now on to another problem: we were seated behind a large fireplace for dinner with absolutely no view of the dining room. (We requested seating in the main DR when we made our ADR's. The big draw of Ohana's was for the children to be able to participate in the festivites - coconut "racing", etc.) When we indicated we'd be willing to wait for a more acceptable table, we were told there would be at least an hour wait. (We had early ADR's - for around 5PM or so, I believe.) Unfortunately, by this time, there was nowhere for us to wait besides at the bar - not something you'd want to do with 2 young children. By this time, families were lined up beyond the bar and lounge area - into the hallways of the Ceremonial House! So we opted to keep our table. The performers came back behing the view-blocking fireplace and tried to include those of us seated there, but the experience was just not the same. We could hear the festivities going on just outside our view - and I would say all of the patrons seated in this particular section of the restaurant felt we missed out on the experience.
I can't say that either bkfst or dinner was a total bust, but I would never want to go back to Ohana's for either.
I always take negative reviews with a grain of salt - thinking people are more likely to complain, rather than praise, but I'm truly not a disgruntled customer. Just one who doesn't care to repeat the experience.
I'd also like to mention that we felt rushed thru our meal - and IF we had wanted to request anything additional ( such as skewers) we would NOT have - due to the harried demeanor of our servers.
If you do decide to partake at Ohana's I hope you have a wonderful meal!

'Ohana tends to have 2 camps - we love it and we hate it

Put me in the not lovin' it camp

Granted, haven't been there in a couple years, but we have had the worst service here and don't intend to go back. Not once, not twice, but the last 3 times we were there, was horrible. Food can be hit or miss, lots depends on your server.

If the menu intrigues you, go. Make up your own mind. You may have all the stars and planets align and have an awesome experience. If not, chalk it up to experience and don't make a return trip :)

I look forward to the day when we have only positive reviews. This used to be a top-notch not to be missed dinner.

Let us know what you decide :yay:

we have been there twice. the first time our seat was away from all the action, and I felt the kids missed out.
Last year we had a seat right in the main dining room. Loved it. :) the kids got up a few times to participate.
the food was better last year. (12-08)

we were going to go again this year, but decided to do Kona instead.

My family is definitely in the "we won't be bothering with this again" camp when it comes to Ohana. We did not care for the salad or wings. The potstickers were OK but a bit dry. The bread was so-so. My DD did enjoy that. The noodles were the best part of the meal. Out of the meat skewers, DH thought that the steak was decent, I found it tough. DD liked the turkey OK. I had looked forward to the shrimp and found it nearly inedible.

Overpriced and not very good. Go for the kids games or because you want to see Wishes from the beach but I wouldn't go out of my way for the food.

I agree with everything PatsMom said.

We found the service to be odd: One person seated us and then served all the tables around us but ours, another took our drink orders and the meat was served by a variety of people. No one seemed to "get it" that we could not even have shrimp at the table due to a severe allergy to shellfish and kept popping by with a skewer and waving it over our plates. Ohana's is all about meat meat meat, and I felt I could have cooked better steak on the grill. The noodles were the only hit of the meal and despite our request to refill the noodle bowl (twice) they only did as we were packing up to leave. But want shrimp? Plenty of that! :rotfl:

I will return to O'hana's for breakfast - it was wonderful!

We will never return for dinner.

I was soooooo disappointed with 'Ohana. I went into it fully expecting to love it and was completely underwhelmed by everything except dessert. THAT was fantastic but unfortunately, not enough to bring me back to this (IMO) very overrated restaurant.

We love, love, love Ohana! We always do breakfast and dinner here. Both completely different experiences, both very memorable with good food.

With Ohana I would not say it's the best food at Disney, but for overall experience you just can't beat it.
