Hi Everyone. I read some info on the Sci-Fi restaurant and made ps for our up-coming trip...Some people mentioned the odd seating...it's going to be my hubbie and my two toddlers - are we going to have a table to ourselves? Will we be facing each other? Any reviews on food and what's best to order for dinner? Thanks. NESS:wave:

What they will likely do if your children don't need high chairs is put one of you and a child in each row of a car. You sit in cars, facing the screen, so no you don't look at each other. If you need to face each other, then you could ask to sit at one of the picnic tables (I think!) that they have in addition to the cars...

There are also tables where you face each other, kind of a mock car with a car front but no body, your table is the body.

Moppy -

The atmosphere is really, really cool. No other way to descibe it I guess :p

However the food is poor considering the cost. My advice is to go there for the atmosphere, order some dessert, and save your meal money on someplace nice.

moppy ...
we love sci-fi
but some advice ... the lunch is great .. burgers and sandwiches, fries and onion rings ... its more $$ than counter-service ... but its more of an event than just a meal

now the dinner gets weird ... and expensive .... what we have discovered is that you can get a burger at dinner even though its not on the menu ... just ask

if possible yopu may want to switch to lunch PS if that works in your plan ... but i'd definitely consider the burger option

also your boys will love the glowing ice cube drinks ... ask about them before you order ... i'm not sure if its on the menu ... but they're great and reusable ... you have to bang them on the table to turn them on and off ... but ours worked for months after we got home

as for seating ... your boys are NOT going to want to sit at a traditional table when everyone else in sitting in a CAR ... i would try putting them in front seat together ... at least to order ... this way they can drive (pretend ... there's no steering wheel) and then if you have to you can switch to eat ... one sits with mom ... one with dad ... also if they're "tv boys" they'll get hooked in watching big screen and you may just have a very "almost like grow-ups" relaxing meal in you all by yourselves back seat

they used to give free popcorn ... dont know if they still do .... but it never hurts to ask

have fun

There are 3 rows of seats in the car so you may end up in the first 2 or the last 2. We got to be in the first 2 and put both our youngsters in the front seat while we sat in the middle. We could keep an eye on them that way and they enjoyed being in the front and watching the big screen. We did have another couple join us in the last row of our car half way through our meal but it was no big thing.

We got the glow in the dark frisbees for the kids meals and they loved them!

I think you will have fun.

And get a milkshake, hubby and I split one and they put two straws in it and it was kind of neat sharing a shake in the "backseat" behind the kids :)

We ate there last week, for the first time ever. It was really cute. The kids loved it. I was also concerned about the seating. When making the PS we were told that we would need two tables(party of 7) but when checking in I asked if we could be seated in a 6-seat car. The 3 boys sat in the front, DH & DD in the middle and little DD & I in the back.

We went for dinner and the kids had burgers off the children's menu. DH & I had salads for starters(yummy) and DH had a shrimp dish which he loved. I shared burger with little DD. The children's meals did NOT come in frisbees like I have heard. The boys had milkshakes for starter and we all had drinks - in souvenier cup with glow in the dark ice cube.

I am glad we did it because the atmosphere is really neat. Aside from the movie playing the restaurant is remarkably quiet. I think if we did it in the future I would prefer a late lunch. Actually we would probably skip it and try PrimeTime Cafe(DH & I love it and the children have never been)

I had forgotten about the frisbees! My kids didn't get them a couple of weeks ago either.
