My extended family of 12 is going Dec. 13-18. I have an ADR for dinner at Hollywood & Vine. For the benefit of the children going (3 9 yr old girls and a 4 yr boy) should I switch to Sci Fi? We are on the dining plan, and I would like to get the best value of food, even though I know the atmosphere at Sci-Fi is great for kids.

If you want variety go to H & V.
We loved the Sci-Fi..lots of fun!

I would definitely opt for Sci Fi! I've been to both, and found H&V lacking in atmosphere and food quality. It's a buffet, which can be good or bad depending on your taste. There was variety, but for the picky eater, it might not be the best option. I also personally prefer a sit down restaurant over buffet, as the food always seems fresher and hotter to me. Plus the Sci fi is just plain fun! :cool1:

I would avoid the H & V unless everyone in your group is ok with a buffet with some very interesting choices. It's also one huge room with tables basically on top of one another. We found it to be loud, food was ok but nothing worth the price, and we won't be doing it again. Sci Fi on the other hand is one of the places our kids would NOT miss. We've been going there since they were small. You can't go wrong with a burger and a shake; for the adults, there are some very good entree choices. Get on allearsnet.com for the specific menu. It's quieter because everyone is watching the "movies" and it is truly a unique Disney experience that caters as much to us emerging baby boomers as the kids. You'll probably remember some of the movies that are running. At least do it once! :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

I never ate at H&V, but I think Sci-Fi is good! We will be there the exact dates that you will be. We are having lunch at Sci-Fi, never been for dinner!
HAve a good trip!

I would pick Sci Fi. The kids will love the atmostphere. Just an FYI though they dont have burgers on the dinner menu they will still let you order one.

Excellent! My current itinerary plans didn't have room for lunch in DS, and I was hesitant to book Sci Fi given the dinner menu. (Well, not necessarily hesitant, but this doesn't seem like the right place to order salmon.)

Thanks for the help. By a unanimous vote, it's Sci-Fi. I've already made my ADR!
