Sci-Fi - How bad is the food ?

The Glow Ice cubes are used at many resturants at Disney. you can turn them off and on. And my DD still gets in the drawer every once in a while and makes her tea glow. 6 months later.

This is one of our fav places! I thought the food was pretty good. Then I tried the BBQ chicken sandwiches - DELICIOUS!!!! Can't wait to go back.

We always get burgers and the Oreo Cookie Shake. Once in maybe 6 or 7 times the burger was a little overdone, but every other time it was great.

:flower: We have gone there 3 times and we really enjoyed the burgers and fries and especially the chocolate milkshakes. The atmosphere is so much fun!

If I go with a party of 6, will they seat us a a bench, or sould we get a bunch of the "in-car" seats?

We love the restaurant because it is so QUIET and RELAXING. Our 3 sons sit in the front seat of the car while my husband and I sit in the back seat. With the campy movies running, my kids just zone out and watch the screen while eating. With all the hustle and bustle of touring the parks, it is a wonderful place to slow down and catch your breath.

When we go to Disney each member of the family gets to pick one restaurant that we must do no matter what anyone else thinks of the place and then we fill in the rest of the weeks meals with new ones or ones we all loved. Sci-Fi is always mine. But only for lunch. I've tried almost all of the sandwiches and they are all really good. But I love good ol' sandwiches that you would have at Ruby Tuesday's or Chili's, not gourmet five star kind of sandwiches or meals. I love the atmosphere and it was one of our cheapest meals as my mom and I split a sandwich and appetizer. And they have great milkshakes!

only restaurant in all of WDW that my wife and I won't go back to.......went once and thought theme was great food was awful......so tried again last year hoping things had changed......they hadn't ...........won't get suckered in again........have been to Disney twenty or thirty times in my life and this place was close to my biggest disappointment of all, just love theming but the food just ruins it, and we are not picky eaters by any means........

We were just there in Nov. My DH remembered Good shakes, so-so food. We did not have an ADR, and they really were great, although the three of us were seated in the "Back Seat" of a car.(don't know if the honey-moon looking couple seated in front of us appreciated that :rolleyes1 ) We split onion rings and a chicken caesar salad, both very good, just enough for lunch. The waiter refused to bring my DS11 a kids menu, so he just had a choc shake, delicious. Burger, Not Good. He also offered to SELL us one of the electric ice cubes, since we didn't get any drinks that had them. Also enjoyed the quiet relaxing atmosphere as many have mentioned.

We have eaten there on all 3 of our trips. We enjoy the atmosphere and the milkshakes. It's fun to watch the movie clips while sitting in the car. It is a little on the expensive side for just hamburgers, but we plan on eating there for our next trip! :earsgirl:

What do they do with small children (high chair age) do they sit them in the car in a booster with a strap or do they make you sit somewhere else? I wouldn't want to go if we couldn't sit in a car.

We ate there for dinner in December- great atmosphere and good food. We will definately eat there on our next trip!

Jennifer, when we went in Dec, we were in the front seat of a car, and DS's high chair was beside us (it had its own tray). This was our second time to eat there, and we probably won't be back; the food was alright (although probably my least favorite TS meal), but the service was slow and I didn't find it to be very easy to eat there with a toddler - we had to ask for the kids' menu, and once we got it (which took awhile), everything on it seemed a little pricey for the amount my 17 mo old would eat (we were both ordering sandwiches, which aren't conducive to sharing with a baby). DH was seated beside the high chair, so he ended up having to do everything for DS (at a normal restaurant, we both help with getting him set up to eat, washing his hands and face, cutting up his food, etc.)

Then when DS got fussy (not screaming, just cranky), the lady next to us leaned over and asked us to move him because he was bothering her - that REALLY soured my mood. We had been waiting to get the check while DS finished eating, but DH ended up taking DS outside immediately, dirty hands and all, because we were so embarrassed at being asked to quiet him down.

I know that has nothing to do with the quality or value of the food, but that experience is indelibly linked in my mind with Sci Fi.

When we were there in june we were on the premium plan so it was Table Service at every meal. this was difinatly the SLOWEST meal we had on the entire trip.

I think the drive inn Movie loop is 45min. we saw it 2 1/2 times.

If you have a party of 6 they can seat you in a car. There are actually 3 rows per car, so front seat, middle seat and back seat.

If you are a party of 4, you can get the front and middle seat and a party of 2 will most of join you in the back seat.

Thanks....we will not be going here then..She will be 27 months at the time but she is not the type that likes to sit still so we still have to restrain her..(MEAN HUH??) It would kill her if we all got to sit in the car and she couldn't.

As far as the rude lady..you are A LOT nicer than me. I will leave it at that!!!! :rotfl2:

Thanks a bunch!!!!

There was a family with 2 small children there across from us in December. They had booster chairs in the cars for them. However, I don't think either child really stayed in them...so maybe there weren't any restrainsts(?) on the boosters. I'd say the youngest was about 18 months old. One child with each parent...and an older child (maybe teenager) was between them in the middle car seat. So, there is a way to be in the car, if that helps.

Maybe not with a youngster, but definitely try this place at least once when your child is old enough. There are four restaurants we eat at every trip to Disney World (Le Cellier in Canada, 50's PTC, Liberty Tree, and Sci-Fi). We love the theming, have never had a problem with service, and loved the Cookies and Cream milkshakes! The burger was not the best I've ever had in my life, but it was good enough, considering this place is slightly cheaper than other restaurants around the world.

I have to say that the BBQ chicken sandwich was fantastic. I loved the onion straws on it. I also really enjoyed the artichoke/spinach/cheese dip with chips. The service was a little on the slow side. The kids didn't really mind because they were watching movie clips. I would go back just for the chicken sandwich! I will say though, if we hadn't been on the dining plan, we probably wouldn't have eaten here. It's a little pricy. We usually try not to spend too much on theme park food and enjoy the rides, etc. instead.

We thought the food was great and we had a very funny waiter and excellent service.

Check-in: Need to do something about the check in process. However, it was right after the Motor stunt show.
