Sci Fi diner is it open?

Hello guys,
Just curious if the Sci fi diner is open and just has a strict capacity. I know that there booking only 60 days in advance. But it never seems to come up for a dining option. Is it that you have to be on the computer at 6am to get a shot?

Yes it is open. I have a reservation for there on the 8th of April. I got my reservation at 60 days at around 11am. This reservation does go fast.

Open. Very limited capacity, makes it difficult to book.... just keep trying and broaden your search times.... I was able to get mid afternoon.

How many people are in your party? Because they are only sitting the people from one ADR in each car, some people have had trouble finding an ADR for less than 4 people

Even with 4 I would search for 6. You're not penalized for 2 fewer showing up, and there are often times 6 shows up but not 4.

I was actually able to find several mid afternoon openings for parties of 2 so not sure the number is necessarily the biggest factor. Worth a try though!

I couldn’t get one for over a month and finally snagged a 6pm dinner for our party of 5 the day before we flew out to Disney!

I was just going to post a thread on whether other people had this experience, but SciFi is there. It's just the victim of Disney IT. My 60 days was this morning. I searched by lunch on that day and nothing. Dinner, nothing. Searched by time I wanted, nothing. After 45 minutes of finding nothing for this or Beaches & Cream, I searched the names of the individual restaurants by each half hour and finally got some times. They weren't even under the times they corresponded to...

For SciFI, I searched 12, 12:30, 1, 1:30, 2, 2:30 and all nothing. I searched 3:00 and 2:05 popped up! It's a technical glitch, not a complete lack of reservations. Although seating definitely seems to be limited, search every angle possible.

I had a hard time getting a ressy for one, but finally managed it the day before.
It was PACKED. By packed, i mean the lobby. So many asking for same day availability (not that I blame them! Planning is tedious).

NEVER feel bad about searching 2 (or more) for a solo reservation. Their system is set up to make 1 difficult to search for, and as long as you show up there is no penalty. It used to primarily be 'Ohana that had that issue, but more and more places are picking up the glitch since 'Ohana is closed. I always search for 2 at least.

Definitely one of the tougher ADRs to get at HS. We were able to get mid afternoon slots back in October and figured that would be a good time since most folks would eat lunch between 11-2 and dinner between 5-8 so we could take some advantage of hopefully shorter stand-by lines. It helped that we did a breakfast ADR well prior to park opening.
