Anyone eat at the Sci-FI Dine In Thearter at MGM lately? I am taking my two kids there, ages 4 and 9, for a quick dinner before viewing the Osborne Lights and was wondering if people are finding the food okay??

It's okay. Nothing to brag about. I think it is pretty pricey for what it is. The milk shakes are great! The atmosphere is cool!

Food is a C-. Many people love the concept of dining in cars watching a drive-in movie. Problem you have, it 3 in your party.
Cars sit 4, 2 in front, 2 in back facing the screen. I have a problem with this, you can't share, you can't assist small children w. their meals.

I recommend the prime-Time 50's instead

I had the cheeseburger in July and it was very good. This was the second time I had lunch there ( July 2000 also)and would not hesitate to back. The food may be a little pricey but the atmosphere is worth it for me at least

I sure enjoyed the burgers and rings. Seems like Sci-Fi is picking up some better comments here on the boards recently. The thinking seems to be stick with the simple stuff and you'll be fine.

We have always been fans of the Sci-Fi, but our most recent visit (last week) was not so good. We ate dinner instead of lunch and it's way over-priced, plus the food was just not as good as on other trips. My DD loves it or I would definately skip it.

We really enjoy eating at Sci-Fi. The food is okay, but the atmosphere is terrific. Even with our kids grown, DH and I will go just to enjoy the B sci-fi film clips. I think it's a place everyone needs to go to and form their own opinion.

The Sci-Fi Dine In Theater is my favorite WDW restaurant. The food is good, but the atmosphere is wonderful. I love the cheesy Sci - Fi movies and cartoons that they play. This is one of my "must go to" places at WDW.

I ate there last month for lunch and it was great. No complaints from me.

Get a salad, let the kids split an adult burger and then all share some rings - the kids will love the glow-n-the-dark drinks or the shakes(let them split one-way too much for one child). We love it there - the atmosphere is like no restaurant we've ever been to and those who say its not gourmet . . . . well, its a drive-in diner atmosphere!!! My hubby and son love it.

Enjoy!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Thank you for the wonderful comments. I think it will be fun for my kids and I will be so excited about seeing the Osbourne Lights we all should be very happy!

We were there the week of Thanksgiving - check my dining reviews. The food we had was excellent, and we plan to return.

Other options....there are a few picnic tables with umbrellas around the back.

If you sit in the car,the kids could be in the front seat and you in the back...very easy to 'assist" the 4 year old if necessary. It's a fun place that my kids enjoyed for many years.:D

It's the one place my kids insist we eat at every trip. DH and I get a little tired of it, but they love it. Do you have boys or girls. Boys especially love sitting in the cars, although my DD gets a kick out of it too. Since there are movies running it's also a pretty quiet place to eat. All the kids are absorbed in what is going on up on the screen. Sometimes that is a good thing!

We enjoyed our sandwiches very much.

My kids ike very basic food, DH too. They thought it was great and want to go back on our next trip:D

We were warned about the food in advance but we wanted to check it out anyway. We had milkshakes and hamburgers and LOVED it. Go and have burgers and you will have a blast - make sure you get a car. Here is a pic of us.

the food is pretty good but the atmosphere is wonderful! Your kids will probably love sitting in the old car replicas and watching the old sci-fi movie clips. It's one of my favorite restaurants in thee park!!!:Pinkbounc

I ate there last week with my inlaws 50's 2 20 year olds 3 kids aged 4, 6, 9 and my dh and myself. We loved the burgers, the crinkly fries were okay, the kids nuggets were gross. Some fancy sandwiches were good. the milkshakes awesome. The fun of the cars and movies and glowing drinks made the whole thing well worth it.

ps we sat 2 kids front seat, me and dh middle seat, 2 20 year olds and 4 year old back seat. In laws in the next over car back seat, with another family in the front 2 seats. We also had 2 servers, but only one bill, This was a little akward.

As others have stated, stay simple and you'll love it here. Great atmosphere and a fun time.

My one recommendation -- have the Cookies and Cream milkshake!!! It's awesome!
