My neices are 6 and three. Which one would they like best?

Be aware that they are showing old horror films on the screen. It may be scary for the small child. My daughter went when she was 7 and didn't have a problem.

Food is better at 50s but overall experience is better at Sci Fi. Our 3 year old grandson, who was afraid of everything, loved it. The clips are cheesy.

Food and experience is better at 50s IMO.

It probably depends on their personalities and how good the server is at at 50's primetime. Ours acted like a regular server when we were there, so our experience was definitely lacking compared to others'. My kids loved the sci-fi for sure! They thought it was so cool to eat at a car table and watch the movies and see the stars. We will probably go back to both on our next trip, though. We'll see how our server is at PT and if we get another dud we'll most likely skip it from then on.

We have eaten at both and prefer Sci Fi. Eating in cars and watching old movie clips is a hoot! My kids have always enjoyed eating here. Most people will say that they like the food at prime Time better but our family likes Sci Fi's food more.

I like both and it really depends on what everyone wants at that time. I just love the 50s theme and it makes me feel like I'm in my great-grandma's house years and years ago. The servers make it fun but I'll say I prefer a table at a TV. I was there with a large group the last time and we just didn't get that 50s feel on a large table in the corner. The chicken is great at 50s but I don't think much of the other food is all that great. Sci-Fi is really fun and 'quiet'. Everyone can cool down, watch the corny clips and eat.

Both have an amazing design and both have similar decent menus (that is, there are things on both menus that appeal to a large audience and neither is really superior.)

Our children loved sci-fi. The food wasn't that great, but the ambiance is great. It is definitely something different and fun for eating out.

I have a 5 year old son...

I haven't been to 50s, but my son asked me what a typewriter was today when he saw the food critic typing on one in Ratatouille. I think 3 and 6 is young to understand the full effect of the 50s atmosphere. :confused3

We also chose Sci Fi (again) for our upcoming trip because we are going in July. Sci Fi is really cool (temperature wise) and somewhat dark and relaxing. I just don't know if I will feel like any "banter" or not. My DS is also sensitive, and I could see him taking it the wrong way if the server criticized him (especially if he was hot and tired).

(My son was fine with Sci Fi as a barely 3 year old, and he hates the dark and was afraid of Haunted Mansion ride. So it is really not that scary IMO.)

The soup was okay, onion rings good, milkshake good, burgers good. So if you don't want to stick with those things, then 50s may be a better option for you.

The only restaurant ALL THREE of my children love with a pssion is Sci-Fi. We're going again this summer. They were 8, 6 and 3 their first time there.

We just got back yesterday from our trip and we ate at both places. I just asked my 10 & 6 yr old which one they liked better and they both said 50's Prime Time. I personally liked Sci-Fi better. The burgers were excellent and our waiter at 50's just wasn't that fun. I think a lot of your experience there depends on what type of waiter you get.

:) If you do eat at Sci Fi and I would definitely wait to get a milkshake at 50's, jmo. I think adults my age (42) like 50's cause we knew kitchens and living rooms like that as children. Plus it is always incredibly cool to pick your dessert from a Viewfinder. I like 50's for the food.

Thanks everyone I think the general consensus is sci-fi, it's one of my faves.

I went to Sci Fi last week for dinner and we were all pleasantly surprised with the food. I had a Reuben and it was very good. My 7 yr old wasn't phased by the movies. It was fun to sit in the car and it is a relaxing dinner b/c it is fairly quiet and dark in the restaurant. I will be making this a tradition for our dinner when we go to HS in the future.

My family is a huge fan of Sci-Fi. It's the only one they insist on doing again when it's ADR time!
