We are not on the dining plan. The kids meal says it comes with a drink and a dessert. Can either of those be a milkshake?

They choose the beverage and desserts off of the "kids beverages" and "kids desserts" sections, so no. You can get ice cream but not a milk shake.

Kids' Desserts

Fruit Salad
Ice Cream Sundae
Sliced Apples

Kids' Beverages
Small Lowfat Milk
Small Dasani® Water

Small Minute Maid® Apple Juice
Ariel or Buzz Lightyear Punch
Minute Maid® Light Lemonade Punch served in a souvenir Ariel or Toy Story 3 Cup with a glowing Ariel or Buzz Lightyear Clip-on Light

$8.00
Kids' menu items for children ages 9 and younger.

The souvenier cup is ALSO not included but you can get the drink served in a regular cup with a kid's meal.

We ate there in November, no milkshakes for kids on dining plan.
Adults can order them as drinks though. I used my drink credit to get my child a milkshake. Then I used my dessert credit for dessert for dessert for me.

I did this as well (when my DS was a child). My DS and I would share a milkshake. Plus we also got dessert to share after. Its a win win! :) And yes, we love our sweets.

BTW the oreo shakes here are TO DIE FOR! :cloud9: If you love shakes as much as I do, its worth it to pay OOP.

That somewhat sad children's menu is why the 8 year old vetoed our dinner their. She actually got online and checked the menu's. Sigh

at 8 my son was sometimes ordering off the adult, sometimes ordering off the kid menu. Sci Fi is cheap enough you can probably let her order off the full menu (or share something with her as the portions are quite shareable.) We shared one TS credit when I did the DxDDP and got 2 milkshakes (one for dessert, one for drink... so we each had our own) and we did get the appetizer too which we shared, and shared an entree. it was great! If you're not on DDP it's even easier ;)

I don't let my child veto either but we do talk about what he likes and doesn't and I can always work it out one way or another if it's someplace I really want to go. They are pretty accommodating.

I don't think the kid beverages and desserts are sad, when they are included for a price of around $10 +/- $1-2 I'd expect something like "ice cream" and not a dessert that is $7-10 all by itself.

Good idea, we are on the DDP but Sci-Fi is one of the most affordable TS locations. To get the girls interested in where they eat they each got 1 pick I had to honor and 1 veto.

You might be able to talk her out of it if you let the girls share an entree from the adult menu. Could they agree? You could each (assuming 2 parents) give them a milkshake from your meal to sweeten the deal ;) Sci Fi is one of my favorites... my kid is picky so the kid meal does appeal to him but if we go again we'll probably share one of the burgers or something. You also do not have to use all DDP credits (as I'm sure you know) so maybe figure out what is a better use of a kid meal credit (a character meal? :) ) and share around a bit.
