Hiya!
Sorry if this sounds weird.. I'm thinking of doing either lunch or dinner at Sci Fi for our Oct. trip... my parents are coming with us and both have shall we say "round tummies"... they tend to prefer tables over booths... how wide is it from the seat to the table? is it a tight squeeze? are tables available? Is it worth going if you sit at the table and not in a car? Also, I've seen many mixed reviews... should we not do dinner and do lunch?? very confused... any help and opinions are appreciated! Thanks!!!!

I'm a size 18/20 and have never had a problem fitting into the booth or feeling crowded, if that helps. There are tables at the back of the restaurant but the booths are more fun IMHO.

Sci-Fi has a fun atmosphere and is definitely worth doing once, but the food is nothing to get excited about. The sandwiches, burgers, and milkshakes are pretty good. I think that these lunch choices are better than the dinner choices. If you are on the DDP, it is not a great way to spend your TS credits and I'd pay OOP.

Here's an up-close picture of the booths:

Thank you! ... we will have to see I guess... we can always do something else if it looks awkward... I'm sure I'm building up issues in my head... I'm a bit OCD about planning... :)

It's great you actually thought about this. Most people don't and I tend to be the first at the restaurant when dining with others so I can request a table instead of a booth. I'm larger than the other poster, about a size 26, and for me the booth was a bit uncomfortable. I wanted to dine here for the atmosphere so that's why I gave it a shot. The good thing is all the booth seats face forward (no one sits across from you facing you) and it's dark in there, so no one could see me squeezed in like a sardine except my DH, and he loved me no matter how much I have to squeeze in. :rotfl:

They do have tables on the sides that might have been more comfortable, but it would have really detracted from the theme.

They do have some cars that have tables with actual chairs(not booths) in them toward the front. Much easier for Pooh-sized folks or folks with mobility issues.
