I just found a catalog on my doorstep for Schwan's home delivery food products. They have everything from entrees to desserts. I've never heard of them. Has anyone ever ordered anything from this company? Looks a little pricey to me. If anyone has any experience with them please post!!

I've seen their trucks around here for years, but have never ordered from them.

Good quality frozen food, but the Schwan's guy made me crazy. Wouldn't take "no" for an answer, far too often. Also, as you noted, it is expensive.

I have nothing but good things to say about the Schwan's food. Everything I have tried was good.

I have been ordering from them for about a year now and for the most part I like the service.

Yes, somethings are expensive but there are deals to be had and their Ice cream products are top notch. Their ice cream cookies are just like the ones sold at WDW and my kids love them. The bomb pops and lemon freeze are my personal favorites. :thumbsup2

They make a lot of packaged meals that can save you a lot of time. Their shrimp scampi is awesome and it's easy to make. They have mini pizza's that my kids love as well.

A lot of their food is pretty good and it may be trial and error to see what you like or dislike. It's a nice supplement to what you normally buy at the grocery store and they sell some interesting things.

They have you fill out a form (if you want to) and you get a Schawns debit card that comes directly out of your checking account. They will even hold the charge/bill up to 2 weeks before depositing it, this is in case you get paid every two weeks or monthly, like I do.

They used to come to my old office every two weeks. Everything I have tried was good.

They've been stopping in my neighborhood recently too!

I don't know, a box of 24 of those strawberry crunch ice cream bars on a stick is $7.99. My 3 year old daughter loves those thing and since she's so cute and charming, every time the good humor truck comes around we fork over $1 for one of them. So I'm thinking, okay maybe that wouldn't be so bad...

I wish they would come into my neighborhood for all the kids around us.

But, they don't. So to answer your question, no experience, but I've heard great things!

It's decent quality, but not worth the price, in my opinion. And they're like those religious people who come to your door - you just can't get rid of them. :teeth:

Schwan's is an awesome company! Most of their food is wonderful. Their frozen veges are spectacular especially their asparagus! What can be bad about a company that brings ice cream to your door!!!! I do not care for their steaks that much but their chicken breasts are great.

A little Schwan's history--Schwan's started out in the small, small town of Marshall, Minnesota. It was a local Dairy/ice cream counter. The son of the then owners wanted to figure out a way for the farmers to buy their ice cream, which they wouldn't because in the day of not having a refrigerator means ice cream melted. He came up with the idea of home delivery and grew that tiny little mom and pop company into a multi-BILLION dollar company that is still family owned to this day. Marvin Schwan was a man of high morals and phenomenal business sense. They still deliver milk in the Marshall area too!

While you may not THINK you are buying from Schwan's they hold 75% of the industrial pizza market (school pizza for example), they also own brands such as Red Barron, Tony's, Little Charlies, Freschetta, among others so you have probably been buying their products for years and didn't know that.

Dh worked for Schwan's for several years until they sold off his division.

Just call their 800 number and they will start coming. They are not an ice cream truck in the sense that they sell individual treats to kids, they are a home food delivery company that started out as an ice cream delivery company.

I have a love hate relationship with them. Love their stuff; hate the service. As a matter of fact, I placed my order online for delivery this week and once again I'm waiting to see if they actually show up or not. It's hit or miss.

I've been using Schwans for some time now, yes some things are pricey(you are paying for a service), most things I have tried I love. My family's favorite is the chocolate chip cookie dough(tastes just like homemade, even raw). I have a great Schwans man now, if I don't need anything he just gives me a reminder for the calendar and says see ya in 2 weeks.

I have been a very happy customer for the last two or three years. I always get the little dixie cups of vanilla ice cream and the ice cream bars and the cones too......Their ice cream is the best..premium ...
For meals I love their chicken fries and the kiddos do too......the quality is there and when I got some from walmart once .....the kids said....YUCK these arent the same. HAHA.....so the kids have testimonys on schwans..
IF YOU do not want them to come every other week.......tell them......I have the most awesome guy that delivers........if I want themto come in a month they do.......I am the boss not them......Tell them upfront.....
I have tried quite a few of their products and I Dont think you will be unsatisfied..

Love the stuff! Some things are really expensive, but the ice cream is worth it! The quality of their frozen veggies is very good. We have a great guy who isn't pushy and is very polite. We have been getting Schwans for about 10 years. We started in IL, and then when we moved to OK, we made sure we were put on their list.

I've been getting Schwan's since I was a kid, well, actually my parents were! :teeth: Their food is expensive, but it's good. You are paying for convenience. They do have sales too. I've tried steaks, pork chops, hamburgers, fries, pies, ice cream, fruit pops, it's all been good!

We love Schwan's ..... We just bought the chicken fingers ans the cordon bleu.. oh and the doggie ice cream for our POM .. she loves them.

They take their customer service pretty seriously and if you are having a problem they will want to know about that.

DH applied for a job with them. I know that he would not be pushy, and would gladly do what he needed to do in order to make his customers happy.

and if any of you are wanting to try them out ... they are offering a really cool deal where you get three items (from a pre-selected list) for just under $20 (if I remember correctly). I'm not sure when it ends, but they lose money on it. They know that once you've tried it, that you'll more than likely order again. :)

We've never had a problem with our delivery guy, some times we just tell him we don't need anything and he gives us a sticker for the next delivery date. A couple of times he was unable to deliver on the right date but he has always called personally to let us know when he will be here. Most things we've tried have been very good. DH and DD didn't like the new turkey and gravy and we all didn't like the chicken kabobs.
