School Uniforms: Your Viewpoint

Okay, until you've been to my school, and been in my shoes, don't assume what you cannot. It happened here, and it's happened over and over again. We didn't conform. We did what we wanted either because our parents wished it of us, or because we wanted to do it. Kapiche?

.

Is that some 'new' school law? My whole family are public schoolers and they've never heard of that

That could be taken care of too.

I change my mind. All school chil'ens should be required to wear this.

I've long maintained that it's a girl, based solely on the clothes s/he's wearing. But perhaps these days boys wear shirts with big daisy prints.

The big question is how did you find a picture of Pat from SNL as a child?

Really oxford *sighs* has this thread taught you nothing? *shrugs* You really should not base your views of people on what they are wearing......Or not wearing as the case may be. :rotfl: As for the "girl" she is moving too fast and I thought she/he had on a tshirt with a blanket wrapped around her/him. :dance3:

He/she/it reminds me of Brett Kelly, the kid who was in Bad Santa with Billy Bob Thornton.

She's just excited because she's getting to express her "inner flower" by wearing her favorite dollar store daisy print shirt.

Back to the possessive form of a proper naming ending in 's' (:upsidedow ) - I consulted Strunk and White and they say to drop the possessive s only with "ancient proper names" and the example they use is Jesus!

Robert Burns's poems, but oxfordcircus' posts!

Are you saying that you are ancient? Are you also saying that you called up a person named Strunk and a person named White and they told you how to punctuate your name? :upsidedow

You should check out Eats, Shoots & Leaves by Truss. It's a fun read for people who like to mess with grammar.

Nobody panic, I'm not about to start picking apart other grammar from other posters. Oxfordcircus is special. :flower3:

How they speak, how they act.

Nine? Try my two year old. Last week at swim class, there was one kid wearing the exact same shirt as him, and one wearing another shirt from the same Gymboree line. Most of my friends dress their kids in full Gymboree, so all the kids look the same even as toddlers. I think he's noticed, though, because recently he's decided he doesn't need to wear a shirt.

Looks to me that someone has been engaging in the act of skirt rolling....the shame of it all.
