Me and DH have now narrowed our trip dates down to easter of 2005(instead of the may half term). BUT whilst looking on our local schools site(Norfolk), it only lists the 14th-18th Feb, there doesnt seem to be any mention of an easter holiday(Norfolk do tend to be very backward!!):)

Looking in my diary I see that 25th and 28th March are bank holidays, so Do I take it that, easter will fall in this week and the following??(trying to plan a 3 week trip, so will have to take Ds out of school for a week whatever!)

So im guessing on 17th March thro to 7th April, does that sound right?.I know its a long way off, but we'd like to give a definate date on the accmadation, as If we cant have this on this date we are talking of X amounts of pounds on different accmadation that will have to be worked into the budget.

Any help would be appreciated.

Surrey have already published their dates. The first day of the hols is the 25th (I assume Good Friday) then they have to go back on Monday 11th April. Easter break is only usually 2 weeks but we seem to be gaining an extra day that year.

After summer 2005 Surrey are reorganising their term dates but we don't know what to yet.

Our dates for 2004/5 are still to be confirmed, but all the draft options show the Easter break from 24th March to 11th April.

HTH :)

Hilary, thanks thats about what I thought hence looking at 17th march, to 7th April(3 weeks). So that works out about right.

I know for definite that our LA are changing the Easter holidays, starting from 2005 there will be a fixed 2 weeks every year, regardless of when Easter is, so in 2005, the 2 week holiday is after Easter beginnng on Friday 1st April. There will be a long weekend break for Good Friday and Easter Monday, then back to school until 1st April. We're hoping to go in these 2 weeks, 2005!!!!!!:bounce:

So, that is for North Lanarkshire in Scotland, not sure if anyone else will be doing this - but I thought I read a thread on this a few weeks back on DIS and some DISers had heard that Easter hols in there area was changing too?????

Jules,

So I'm not the only one looking as far ahead as easter 2005!;)

I worked out the Easter dates yesterday!Same as above 2nd April to 19th April.BUT Mattie is starting a new school in a different borough to the one we live in and one which I have no knowledge about. They only have dates up to 2004 on their website.I e-mailed the borough to see if they could advise me if they will be adopting the new term times but they didn't reply.

Does anyone know if it's possible to find out if the new term set-up is nationwide from 2005? And/or how to find out about the particular borough in London I need to?

Leicestershire school break is from 18/3 - 4/4 2005, we are also heading out for three weeks probably from the 12/3 - 2/4 flights will be a little cheaper a couple of weeks before easter.

Kazzie its a dilema isnt it, the worst thing is I work in education, so youd think I'd know!!!!!!!!!!

Theres no talk about Norfolk changing to the new term dates so Im working on 17th march to 7th april give or take a few days!.

Decisions will be taken locally, by the LEA, so you will need to contact the Education Department at your local town hall/civic centre. If they've not replied to your email just give them a call: enquiries from parents wanting to know about school holiday dates will be a frequent question for them, so they should be able to answer quite easily.

Regards

Rob

Thanks Rob,I'll try calling tomorrow:)

Even though there may not be any actual news of a change to fixed weeks fir easter, it may be worth ringing the LEA and checking it's not on the cards,

I found out from our local paper only a couple of weeks before we broke up that we are changing to fixed weeks for 2005 and I'm a deputy head! As yet the school has still not had official conformation but when I rang the LEA to check, it was correct.

LOL Cheryl, talk about being the last to know!!:p
