School Bread

Can somebody explain what "School Bread" is? I know it's found in Norway, and I've seen pictures, but it looks like a roll with coconut and butter on it.

I would describe it as being similar to a doughnut-- sweet but not as sweet & a little more "bready". Inside is a custardy type filling and the top has icing with coconut.

The "butter" on top is actually the same custard that is in the middle. I get these "to go" and take them back to the resort for breakfast.

It's changed. It used to be white coconut on top, now it's caramel with toasted coconut. The dough is not sweet like a donut, but more of a yeast bread type. The cream inside and topping is what makes it sweet.

I used to LOVE them. Since the change, they're just not the same.

It's like a giant Boston Creme doughnut with a toasted coconut topping. IMO, they are extremely over-rated.

That is a very good description. I never had the old ones, but my whole family LOVES the new ones.

It's overrated - there are a lot of better pastries there IMO

Just like they said it's a sweet bread with custard inside. Coconut on top. They are very good but the last time I went there was not much custard. I also get them for breakfast.
