Schedule of Southwest Release Dates Next Date 6/28 Travel Thru 1/16

Call me stupid but time is running short.........just to clarify....If I book 2 one way tickets and then a ding comes out for either, I can simply call and change that ticket to the ding price with no penalty?????

You can't just Change Ressie to get a Ding fare. You have to cancel the old ressie then use those funds toward the Ding. If it's simply a drop in price/sale you can change and keep the same ressie #!:thumbsup2
yes, there are no fees to change or cancel!!
this is why I LOVE SWA!! :cloud9: :yay:

UGH!!! Just when I thought I had this this figured out!!
Last month I got $185 RT from Chicago to Orlando..thought that was good, right now AA has RT for $201...thought that is not bad.
So I have the Ding thing...trying to follow along....looks like I should just book one way at this time and wait for a ding, if i get a ding offer that is great, cancel my first ressie..i dnt know...I am running after a 10 mth old now so ....lol...actually had to move to the dining room with the laptop cause she doesnt like my office....and Playhouse Disney is NOT doing it for her this morning!!!!

Thanks for the quick replies(I too just realized it isn't 10 Eastern Time!)

So, since I have the Ding service, I should:

-book the one way flights at the best rate
- hope for a better Ding in the future
- cancel one way flight if good Ding happens
- use that credit toward the purchase of new Ding tickets
- fly off the Neverland and be happy!!

I just wish I had known this for the past 2 years on SWA!!!!!!!
Thanks Dis'ers:wizard:

So, In Summation: "Good DINGS come to those that wait"!!!!!

GoofyBlade when will you be at WL?
Thanks for that post, I get it now:)

But, if it's simply a drop in price (not a ding!) you can get that money refunded back to your CC. You have to call the non-toll free # on their site & be keeping the exact same flight. I did that last year & got back an $80 credit to my card.

Sitting here w/ you waiting til 10! I can only get my flight down today - kind of stinks cause I'll be sitting here again in a few months waiting for my return flights to open up!! But, I look at it that it gives me time to pay off the ones today before the next leg opens up!

I like that the credit can be combined for the future travel.

For example:
we are a family of 3 (DH, DS(2) and me) and we are taking a friend along to be our 'trip nanny'. If the ding fare ends up saving us $50 per person that is $200 ONE person can use on another ticket in the next year - not just $50 per person on each ticket like all other airlines do. They don't attach names to the credit, just a confirmation number.

Getting closer - just over half an hour to go.

joining in here on the wait....

is there any reason to book a round trip? any incentive at all?
rarely does our flight not sell out as it is the only non-stop to Orlando offered for an airport that serves most of NY that is not NYC/Buffalo so I am doubtful of them ever giving a Ding or reducing fare....

in order to book one ways it has to be 2 separate transactions right? do the whole thing for the 4 of us, check out then reenter the site and book the return? Yes?

Even if they don't offer a DING! the price may come down. I bought tickets for ISP-FLL the day they went on sale and they were $150 each way. Two months later the price came down to $89. I was able to cancel and rebook.

Good point. That was sort of a concern of mine but I'll take the risk of getting it all done. Anyone.......got experience/input????????

are rates usually really low when they first come out?

are rates usually really low when they first come out?

Last time they released rates, I remember reading a lot of posts of people complaining how much higher they were than in the past. I think there's been a lot of specials & dings though to make up for it.

I remember specifically seeing them when they were released on 2/8 through 8/24 and for early and mid -August PVD to MCO was $59/one way.

Do you all have a break point where you will wait???
