What is your favorite scary movie?

I want to watch some good scary movies throughout the month. TIA!

For me, The Shining remains one of the scariest movies. Blood and gore never scare me very much, I far prefer a movie to mess with my mind.

Trick R Treat was surprisingly good. Plus Rob Zombie has his remake of Halloween 2 out on DVD now.

The ORIGINAL Halloween gives the Shining a run for it's money. The biggest thing is there is very little of the gratuitous bloodletting subsequent sequels/remakes. Probably because the biggest budget ticket they had was Donald Pleasance. :)

Two movies scare the bejeebees out of me:

1. Candyman
2. The Fourth Kind :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Others:

House of Wax
Saw(s)
Final Destination(s)
The first few Friday the 13ths
Nightmare on Elm Street
Freddy vs. Jason

The Strangers

Eeeek, that one was scary!! Disturbing though.
Love Halloween, it's my favorite, but I've seen it so many times it's not scary anymore LOL.
I saw a good one on cable once, called Dead End. It was scary and funny!
I liked 1408 also, creepy but not a horror movie really.

The Ring scared the crap out of me.

Silent Hill.
Very underrated creepiness.

and the classic Norwegian zombie flick Dead Snow.

The Strangers is terrifying! As far as older movies, The Entity tortured me for years as a kid. I know it is not scary now, the original Nightmare on Elm Street truly was scary and I was afraid to sleep after that.

Signs. For some reason that movie gives me the creeps.

I honestly can say I hate all scary movies except for The Sixth Sense. For some reason I love that one!

The Changeling- not the Angelina Jolie one, but the George C. Scott one. It is an oldie but definite goody! It will keep you out of attics for years...

The Ring.

One of my favorite movies of ALL TIME!!

The Exorcism of Emily Rose and 1408 are also good. Shutter Island isn't so much a horror movie but it is creeeeepy and excellent! :thumbsup2

I do not like slasher or gory movies. I prefer the psycholocial horror film.

I will say that the SCARIEST movie I have seen is the remake of the Amityville Horror. OMG. Literally scared me to tears. I think I slept with the lights on for a week. Darn CGI effects... :rotfl:
