Scary Movies

the original Halloween 1 and 2
original Exorcist
Amityville Horror
The Fog

Paranomal Activity scared the pee out of me. I STILL have trouble sleeping if I think about it at night...

Poltergeist scarred me for life. I will never recover.

The original Nightmare on Elm Street

The Exorcism of Emily Rose is another that freaked me out beyond belief.

The Others - great suspense and twist at the end

The Sixth Sense is not only one of the best scary movies ever made, it's one of the best movies period.

For me, The Shining remains one of the scariest movies. Blood and gore never scare me very much, I far prefer a movie to mess with my mind.

Totally agree with all of this. I own it on dvd but whenever it's on tv I watch it every single time.

All-time favorite is the original Halloween. Nothing compares.

More recently, I loved Scream, and The Ring scared the bejesus out of me. My then-BF installed a Ring screensaver on my computer without telling me after we saw the movie, and the first time it was triggered I damn near had a stroke. I don't remember exactly what it did, but I hit the ceiling. And then him. Hard. ;)

Paranormal Activity 2 is coming out... and it looks like it's involving a family w/ kids!! :scared1: Did you watch it on DVD or in the theater? Because the DVD has a FREAKY alternate ending!!! I had to sleep w/ my booklight under my pillow for a week after watching that movie. I almost peed myself (for real, not just in the sense of the saying lol!) when the night after I watched it I got out of bed to go to the bathroom and the dog brushed by me, which is odd because he never leaves his bed, which is beside my bed, at night... I fricking WIGGED!!

Hostel is creepy/gory scary
The Saw movies ditto
Amityville Horror
I can't watch any Chuckie movies, I get nightmares for weeks... so I'll say Chuckie movies are scary, although they may not actually be - I just don't like him and can't catch a glimpse w/out being freaked.
The Fourth Kind
Carrie

That's all I can think of for now... I  scary movies!

"Manos, the hands of fate"

:rotfl:

My favorites are the original Halloween, Quarantine and the original version of The Haunting. I'm looking forward to the new Paranormal Activity movie.

As for movies in the theater, Devil was fun. It's an odd movie though and not for everyone.

Me too!! To this day nothing has scared me/freaked me out like the Exorcist!

Yep, me too! I saw it when I was about about 14 at a sleepover with seven other girls - we were staying in my friend's house, which is a huge gothic style mansion and her parents were sleeping in another wing of the house - we were all so scared, if one of us had to use the bathroom in the night we all got up and went and waited outside the door! I slept with the lights on for over a year, and I still can't watch it.

We've been watching scary movies the last few nights and we just watched Silence of the Lambs...I'd forgotten how creepy that was! Tonight we're going to watch Scream (again!)

My all time favorites are the Halloween movies. I love Halloween 1 and 2 watched in succession. I'll admit I've never seen 3 but I've seen all the others. They were good up until like the 5th one or so. H20 was passable but not great and then the one or two after that I just didn't like. I also didn't care for Rob Zombie's remake, I thought I would since I really enjoyed House of 1,000 Corpses and the Devil's Rejects.

I also enjoyed the Scream Trilogy. The Exorcist of course :)

Sigh, they just don't make scary movies like they used to.

Aliens.....it was an awesome date movie..it was a first date with a girl.
We went to a late night showing and her and I were the only ones in the theater. By the end of the movie she was sitting in my lap holding onto me :thumbsup2

The Fog always makes me nervous when I watch it.

Arachnophobia was just on the other day that made me jump a few times.

the original "Halloween" starring Jamie Lee Curtis is my favorite scary movie of all time. of course, i've seen it so much, it's not very scary any more. "scream" is a close, but definite, second.

"Manos, the hands of fate"

:lmao:

Oh man. So many great horror movies out there. Some of my favorites:

The ORIGINAL Halloween from 1978. Fantastic. Watch it in the dark.

The original and remakes of Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead. The 1968 version of NOTLD is a classic and very creepy. 1978 DOTD paved the way for zombie movies today. The 1990 NOTLD is one of my favorite zombie movies (though the ending still ticks me off) and the 2004 DOTD literally had me freaked out to walk to my car at the end of the movie.

Session 9.... PHENOMENAL. One of my now all time favorite movies. Very creepy, makes you think quite a bit.

Poltergeist! Everyone loves Poltergeist. ;)

The Fog is one of my least favorite John Carpenter movies. I mean, it's leper pirates. Who the hell is scared of leper pirates? You could just smack the dude on his arm and the arm would fall off.

Paranomal Activity scared the pee out of me. I STILL have trouble sleeping if I think about it at night...

This is the first movie that I actually was scared to get up and go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Even my husband was freaked out!!
