Viewers of one of our TV stations had voted for the 100 Greatest Scary Moments from TV, Film, & Advertisements.

They just showed them all on TV, I kept running out the room with some of them, or at least out of view of the screen! :p

I can't list them all, but which one do you think is the scariest film/movie from this list?

Halloween definitely. Even hearing the theme music gives me the shivers. :earseek:

I'm 37 years old and The Exorcist still gives me the heebie jeebies.:scared: :scared1:

The Exorcist -- hands down. I have to change the channel every time I hear the commercial for the new one come on :scared1: .

You didn't have it on the list, & I know it's kinda hokey, but The Amityville Horror. When it first came out, I was 7 or 8 y/o, my mom was taking my older brother to see it & as to be fair to me (so I wouldn't be jealous that he got something & I didn't) she took me with them. It terrified me. I slept with my mom for 6 monthes, I was scared that slime was going to come out of the walls. We had a parrot, Stumpy, my brother taught him the little tune - La, la...La, la...la, la, la, la, la La, la... (my mom still has the bird but fortunately he has forgotten the song). To this day I still can't watch that movie or The Shining :scared1:

Also, when we were looking @ floor plans for our house, the house could NOT have those Amityville windows, no, no, no!!!

Some scary ones there indeed, have seen about half of them. Psycho for me, a true classic, Hitchcok style, the master.

For me it was The Exorcist hands down. I was finally able to watch the whole thing about a year ago. I watched recently with DS but he didn't think it was too scary.

I saw a movie years ago as a teenager which terrified me to no end. It was called "When A Stranger Calls". It was more true-to-life, liek it could possibly really happen, than something like "Halloween" or the Freddy Krueger movies. Those are horror fils but they don't scare me per se because I don't feel they can happen.

"The Exorcist" is another scary one. Probably because I am Catholic and do believe that people can become possessed.

Halloween is my all time FAVORITE horror movie, right next to the Living Dead series.

Halloween without a doubt.

It was the first scary film I ever watched and it still scares me to this day.

I have yet to watch the entire Exorcist movie because I get so freaked out. It's the only movie I've ever been afraid of. When I see a scene from the original movie, it stays with me for days. The music alone is enough to make me jump!:scared1:

I am older than that and I rented The Exorcist just to watch and show myself it was not as scary as I remembered it from high school.....I did not prove it.

I saw the new Exorcist last week and it was not very good. The points it tried to make are understandable, but I don't think they had enough money to spend on the special effects.

I am actually NOT a scary movie fan so I guess I don't understand my own facination!

"Psycho" is the greatest horror movie ever made. I was 11 years old when it came out in 1960. I can still see the stuffed mother in the basement. OMG! Hand me a beer!
:scared1:

I remember when I was a kid, they had the "tame" version of the Exorcist on network television. I happened to catch a glimpse of it. I think I slept with the lights on for a month! Not that lights would help me. I kept waiting for my bed to move and my 45 records to fly around the room! I saw the entire movie for the first time in college and I was still afraid of it! I don't think any movie will ever be as scary as the Exorcist because it happened to this normal little girl in her bedroom. Very scary stuff.::yes::

I voted for the exorcist but feel that the Omen was equally scary. I also love the Halloween (original) movie such a cool slasher film.
