Scared & need your thoughts -DD is getting notes

You and your family continue to be in my prayers. Thanks for taking the time to update us - I know posting to the DIS is probably the very last thing on your mind right now.

Please tune out any of the negativity on this thread. I'm sure you are doing everything possible for your daughter.

Just sending along my best wishes that this is resolved quickly and once the perpertrator is discovered, I hope the school's reaction is appropriate. If this happened in my DD's school, if it was a student, they would be expelled immediately. Behavior like this is not to be tolerated or made lightly of.

Thank you so much for the update! At least you know that it is someone in the classroom. That being the case, surely some of the other students saw who was leaving the notes. If nothing else, is it allowed to search pockets and backpacks before the start of class each day to see who if someone is bringing the notes with them? I just don't quiet understand the amount of persistance this person has with leaving your daughter notes. It seems almost like an obsession. I will continue to think about you and your family and hope this person (student) is caught and punished.

I am curious as to know why or what information narrows this down to a child in the same class. I guess I would consider this good news but it is still scary to know a 9 - 10 yr old would write notes to this extent and then not be seen putting the notes in or on backpacks and sweaters. I like the idea of classroom video cameras.

ETA: I forgot to say Im glad your daughter is handling this well. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. I hope this is settled quickly for your family.

Don't let the negativity get to you...I know you're doing everything possible just like anyone else here would. I hope things work out quickly and this nightmare is over. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Thank you karebear.
People are freaking out about this. Please calm down. Believe me we are not treating this lightly.
They found another note while the class was in session on another kids( friend of DD) sweater by her desk. It has been narrowed down to someone in the classroom. The teacher is wonderful and getting VERY frustrated by all of this and wondering why she can't catch this kid.
The whole thing has been reported to the police and is in there hands. We talked with them this morning.
I am trying very hard to keep my daughter calm in all this. By running around like a chicken with my head cut off is going to make it worse.
By the way my daughter is fine with how this is being handled.
The notes were NOT in plastic bags. They had been taped to the items.
The principal and Vice are very much on this. I have had many conversations with them since the meeting with the police this morning. I have also been monitering the halls myself as the library was just down the hall.

How about looking for someone with tape - in their pockets, bookbag, desk. I know my kids don't routinely carry it around with them. I sound like I watch too much CSI, now, but there should be fingerprints on the tape used to secure the notes. I wonder how it would go over if they fingerprinted the whole class.

Good Luck to you and your family Tantor!! Thank you for the update as well. I am very surprised that another note has surfaced. Someone is in desperate need of some attention!! I hope this situation comes to a VERY quick and peaceful end. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. Take care!!

This still doesn't make sense. If the kid is in the class how did NO ONE see the kid put a note on the girls sweater? How many kids are in this class? Are the desks all lined up next to each other? :confused3

Some background on the quotes possibly a way to figure out which kid it is???

One of dh's friends believes they came from the game Everquest, the original edition of the game released several years ago. They are almost verbatim quotes from a sub-adventure in the game into the underground city of the dark elves. Even the "N" signature comes straight from the game. The full name of the character is something along the lines of Nezzka Tolax.

Maybe somehow this will help them figure out which kid it is.

I know you and your family must be terrified. I pray that this situation is resolved safely for all concerned, very soon.

I bet it is two kids working together. One works as a lookout while the other plants the notes. It sounds like boys but girls at this age can be unbelievably cruel. They are going to be in such trouble, they cannot imagine!!!

I, for one, have not read any "negativity" that others are talking about. I just see comments from people who are frightened and concerned about the OP and her family.

mickeyboat, you and I think alike because I thought about the exact same things!!! Tape would be easier to search for. That would definitely be a way to narrow the search. Also, the tape pieces should definitely have some type of prints.

This is all very strange. Now they're targeting another kid? And taping a note to her sweater in a classroom occupied by probably 20-25 kids and a teacher? And no one is seeing anything? I can't fathom it.

I assume they don't take their backpacks out to recess with them. Does anyone have access to the room while it is empty? This could have given them access to the sweater as well, if the kid left it in the room during recess.

Otherwise, I'm starting to think the DD is doing it herself. It's just too weird that no one has seen anything, especially now that everyone's watching for it.

Tantor,

You and your DH are handling this very well! You are taking action, but trying not to scare your DD more than she is already scared. Good job!

That's what I'm thinking or it's the teacher. Bizarre.

I think that first thing in the morning, they should search each childs backpack and pockets to see if they can find another note. That or as mentioned above, look for tape or any other evidence of the kid who's doing it.

Edited to add that I too watch too much CSI, but don't th ink it's necessary to take fingerprints to figure out a child, if indeed it is a child who's doing it. If they can find a note, the tape or anything else, they should be able to figure it out. I think that the kid has to have help or either live in the neighborhood, otherwise, how did they see her riding her bike? If the threats continue or get worse, maybe they will need to take more drastic measures to find the person, but I don't see them calling in the CSI's just yet.

Have the real cops actually been called yet?

It sounds like you are doing the right thing. The camera idea does seem to have some merit, as long as it can be put in without the knowledge of anyone in the class. My thoughts and prayers are with you. :grouphug:
