I am getting ready to start SBD for the first time. I bought the book and in the food items allowed, it describes some of them as limited and very limited. What does that mean exactly. Very limited, I am assuming, means once in a great while. But what does limited mean? Once a week, once a day, once every few days? Thanks for any tips!!

I've gotta admit that I don't know, but I thought I'd post and bump your thread to the top of the page. :p

I know there are quite a few people here living on the Beach - I'm sure someone will know. ::yes::

When I see that a food is limited, I don't really put a time frame on it, it's just an item I won't make a part of my normal every day diet. When it says something should be eaten very limited if at all, I usually don't eat it. I believe things like sugar and potatos are listed on the very limited list and like I said, I just don't eat them at all.

I am a fan of grits and they are listed as a eat rarely food so I have some about once per month. I hope that helps you out some. You will love South Beach and I wish you great success with the program!

At prevention.com they have a south beach diet bulletin board that might help with that...

limited can be once a week or less. Very limited maybe once or twice a month.

In the weight loss process--those items are best to be avoided...and used only once in a blue moon say if you are at someones house for dinner or something like that.

Thanks everybody. That helps clarify things and I will check those boards mentioned!
