Hi everyone,

I have a question for all you scrapbooking experts. Do you include your child's "artwork" in the albums? If so, do you purchase those sleeves that you can put non-archival materials in or what? My DD is 3 and we are getting quite a collection of artwork from pre-school this year. I have set aside a few pieces to frame and hang in the playroom, but I'd like to include some of her drawings and paintings in her scrapbook. How do you all handle this?

Also, do you have any storage suggestions for those larger crafts that you just can't bring yourself to throw away?

Thanks for your advice and suggestions!

Dear Soccerchick,
I take a photograph of my children's artwork. This works really well with 3 dimensional objects like puppets and works of clay. Then, when the school year is done, I have a gallery of her work from the year. As they got older I would also photograph shorter compositions that were hanging on the classroom wall. At the end of the school year I could fit the best ones on a 2 or 4 page double spread. Hope this helps.

I have been saving my girls artwork in underbed storage boxes and it was time to clear them out.

I looked through them and ditched the ok ones. Next I taped the largest ones to the wall and photographed them (they turned out nicely). I tried to do it in somewhat a chronological sequence so I wouldn't loose track of when they did a project. The 8.5 x 11 ones I am color copying or scanning so I can manipulate their size for my scrapbook. The very best artwork is framed and hanging on my family room wall.

I even photographed the two large paintings my kids did at EPCOT and included the pics in my layout of France. I backed them on paper that looked like a watercolor and made a paintbrush border for the side of the page then included a photo of the girls actually painting the pictures. I love this page.

I just couldn't bear to get rid of my kids artwork so I very pleased with this solution. I also tried to remember to take photos of the girls standing next to several of their pictures taped to the wall or holding the project.
