This trip we went with a family we are friends with from church, so we got a 2BR at Boardwalk thanks to a waitlist. Was 9 of us (5 my family and 4 for them). We had a great time overall. Our friends are very experienced at WDW and used to have DVC also. We split up quite a bit for everyone to do things they liked so were together maybe half the time or more in the parks. We opted to not do any LL, which was fine, still did pretty much every ride we wanted to get in, just spent more time in stand by that we were used to. But its amazing how much better our kids did waiting when there were non siblings to play with lol.
Just some random things in list form about the trip
Boardwalk
- I don't know that I would stay there again. The room was fantastic. First time in a 1br (our friends took the studio side) and I regret it since now I am going to want them and they are not the best use of points really! The refurb they did is great, no complaints about anything related to the room. I washed the heck out of some clothes too, came home with suitcase full of clean clothes for everyone, made getting back home very easy with that.
- Community hall was cool, just my family went and the kids made some sand art and had some fun hanging out there for a bit on our resort day
- The pool is not good. Its mostly fine, but its very outdated compared to other resorts and the lack of a kids water play area is not great. Whatever surfacing the put on it as well is pretty scratchy and can rub your feet a little raw. We only really used it a couple of times when normally we go quite a bit more.
- It rained a lot during the week so having to go outside for everything is a big bummer
- The pizza window is legit when its good, we had it one night early on when come back from Epcot and it was great, had it again later and it was kinda bad.
- IG entry kinda sucks now thanks to the skyliner, getting into epcot for early entry was the worst of the 4.
- Boat ride to HS is still pretty great
Dining
-We normally do a lot of TS but only did a few this time
- Ale & Compass, it was ok, I got a pork chop that was pretty good, kids got the burger that was decent, the kids desserts were the highlight of the meal though, a ice cream cookie sandwich that was chocolate chip cooks with vanilla in the middle, and a dome thing that was also very good. We had a VERY nice family that was seated next to us that had some sort of issue where they got a free bread service (thats $14!!! for FOUR rolls with some very good spreads...) that they gave us, pretty yummy but the cost is insane.
- Cape May Character Breakfast, pretty good breakfast. The food was probably the best character breakfast we have done. There was a eggs benedict type thing they had, bottom was like a spicy hashbrown thing they put the poached egg on, if you like eggs benny definitely get it.
-50's Prime Time Cafe, had the best waiter in Max, he made friends with my middle child to the point she wanted a picture with him before we left. Food I thought was very good, we got the cornbread skillet with honey butter, well worth getting. My wife had the sampler and liked the chicken and the pot roast but wasnt a big fan of the meatloaf, if we go again she'd just go with the pot roast. I had the blue plate special which was a bone in pork chop with mashed potatoes and this fantastic peppery and onion gravy on it. VERY good, would definitely get it again.
Blizzard Beach
- We went on that Sunday using the free entry, we got there around 9:15 or so by car, parking lot was not very full and the park itself wasn't super busy until a couple hours later on
- Made the mistake of forgetting to put in a mobile order so when we got hungry and tried to get lunch at like 1:30 it took forever since there is only the one main QS location. The food was solid though, had a flat bread pizza thing that was pretty good and the burger was above average for Disney QS. Will definitely remember to go ahead and do a mobile order early to avoid the long wait in line next time.
- It was a fun day and a great perk I think for staying on property, its staying for 2026 and we will definitely do it again but most likely try TL
I'll come back later and fill in the park stuff.
