Public school, private school, or home schooling - what works for one family may not work for yours - why do you care?

The ol' breastfeed vs. bottle feed debate is tiresome and old! If I want to bottle feed - mind your own business! If I want to breastfeed - mind your own business! Do not make assumptions about either. Oh and you don't love your child more if you are able to breastfeed!

Working moms vs. SAHM - why does it matter to you if I work or not? Once again - mind your own business

I love this thread. I think its great that people can say what they like. It has opened my eyes to the way some people think, and while some of it I feel is downright sexist and racist, I'm glad the thread exists.

I think that most people who say they can't breast feed are just lazy or selfish.

I'm not flaming you. I just wanted to mention that there are sometimes conditions beyond a persons control that prevent them from breast feeding. I did not breast feed my DD. I have only one breast, thanks to cancer. My doctor told me that it would be a very bad idea to try. I hope people weren't thinking I was lazy or selfish when they saw me bottle feeding DD in public. I'd hate to have had to pull my shirt off to prove myself a worthy mom.

Don't worry, if this thread survived those hideous racist and homophobic comments that have since been deleted, it can survive my pointing out to a young woman that she has much to thank women's libbers for.

I think ALL women should watch the film "My House in Umbria" with Maggie Smith. I watched it for the 3rd time yesterday. She plays a terrific survivor -- of an awful train wreck, of a wretched childhood, of a broken heart, dealing with a drinking problem. She made a beautiful life for herself (still colored by great sadness) and surrounded herself with people that became her family. I can't recommend it highly enough. Maggie Smith is wonderful beyond words.

If lung cancer and heart disease were cured tomorrow, the first place I'd go is the 7-11 for a pack of smokes.

I think I have a wonderful life -- wonderful children and husband, a nice house, a successful career. But I think of myself as an orphan and when I do see a loving mother and daughter or father and daughter together, it always brings a pang of longing. I miss my Mom and Dad and often feel ripped off that they died so young. And I also admit to be mildly annoyed when people cry aobut someone dying so "unexpectedly" when they are in their 90's, even though the rational side of me knows a loss is a loss, no matter what the age.

I can relate to that one.... my parents died very young also. I get a little upset when I see people who complain about their parents. (it depends on what they are complaining about obviously) I wish I could tell them how lucky they are that they still have them around.

Ahh, Snoopy, we are the same person!!!! I'll be the person holding the 7-11 door open for you - happy to say I quit when I was pregnant with DD16 and haven't ever gone back, but when the cure comes I'm lighting up AND blowing it in your face...

I lost both of my parents about six years ago, within five months of each other, and within four months of my husband deciding he didn't want to be a husband and father any more. It was a great big old pulling the rug out from under my feet kind of year. But I too have remade my life into a pleasant, content, and very often, yes, happy time for me and my two daughters. So I'm with you on the trashing of parents, too. Many of my female friends are moving into the stage of their lives where it's just too easy too complain about older parents - I would really really like to be able to talk to my mom, even if she did tell me things for the third time...

On the other hand, I TOTALLY respect anyone's right to complain about anything they like!!! Just because YOU have it worse than me is no reason I shouldn't feel badly about it too!!!!

Which brings me to those former smokers who complain about people who smoke. I just can't imagine how one could smoke for years and then all of the sudden be sick from the smell. Not me. If I am feeling extra stressed about something at work I'll go outside to where the smokers are standing and take a deep breath of the air, it calms me down everytime.
