I like how no one seems to care about the possible loss of the BEST part of Maelstrom. . .the weird medley of Norwegian things that made up the mural. Siiiigh. How I'll miss that dude that looks like Chuck Norris. And the little boy, so creepily happy about cleaning fish.

I don't think anyone mentioned it because until this rumor is no longer a rumor, why bother even thinking about any of it.

Maybe it's not a full changeover. Maybe they'll just go through and add some "rock" trolls to the ride, but keep the ride the same?

Of course without any true official statement on this, it's all conjecture anyway.

On that note, my best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

I didn't like the Three Caballeros update to the ride in Mexico. We skip it on most trips. While I really loved the movie, Frozen, I doubt that adding it to Maelstrom will be an improvement. I enjoy riding it every trip but I have a feeling that adding some characters will change that for me...so sad. Not to mention that once they add Anna and Elsa, it will be a mad dash for most and the lines will become unreasonably long. World Showcase is our break from the craziness of the other parks...it is our leisurely strolling day. I would prefer less characters and more authentic culture. I love going from country to country...eating, drinking and soaking up the atmosphere.

People have reported that they are unable to schedule fast passes in october, which is leading many to hypothesize the closing of the ride for a change or refurb. You can take what the OP has to say with a grain of salt because everyone has a friend of a friend or a relative has a friend who knows someone high up in the Disney hierarchy who confirms rumors. I honestly wouldn't believe anything till it comes straight from a Disney Press Release.

Keep the characters out of WS. M&Gs are one thing. Leave it at that. You have MK and DHS for lands,rides, experiences, etc., based on the films.

This is why my kids and I like Maelstrom. It's all so corny!! As mentioned, the trolls that lead to oil rigs?? Yeah, I'll miss those things, but we'll all have something to joke about in our "remember when" threads.

If only the ride is changed and then in a sensible way, I'll be very relieved but what about the size? The ride is tiny and the queue wouldn't be able to handle a Frozen crowd even though it is a decent size. The Norway pavilion itself is small and I thought that one reason the sisters were moved was because the pavilion couldn't handle the crowds?

Plus why doesn't Disney announce something? It's not all that long until the rumored closing date.
