Went and saw Bad News Bears last night.. I never saw the original so I cant compare, but there is ALOT of cussing in it and mainly by the kids :scared1: I brought my daughter to see it and there are some funny parts, but man had I known I dont think I would have taken her... Every other word out of their mouths was a cuss word --

The first one is very much like that. In the original, there was cursing, one kid smoking between innings, the coach having girlfriends/prostitutes, and other stuff.

Maybe people should rent the original before seeing the new version.

I loved the original BNB when it first came out. The 70's were a different time, and the kids and adults in the film actually acted alot like that IRL, even if it wasn't pretty. ;)

If it's loaded with curse words and the like, it goes without saying that little kids probably shouldn't see it.

Isn't it rated R? Or at the least PG-13? That would explain the cussing. I want to see this movie, I have also never seen the original. But I think it is a good part for Billy Bob.

I just looked and found that its PG13... I wouldnt not necessarily not take her because of something is PG 13 but I was surprised at all the cussing.. :scared1: It was my own fault.. I figured it was a cute movie about kids and baseball.. she loves baseball.. it wasnt that big of a deal but I know in future I will make sure I find out more about a movie Im not sure about..

Just wanted to mention it here in case someone was going to take their kiddo to it, they would at least know..

BNB is NOT a movie for little kids. All the previews, ads, and interviews have been pretty clear, IMO, that this is more of a movie for teens and adults. Just because there are kids in the movie, doesn't mean there should be kids in the theater watching it.

Just watched the original last night! What a trip down memory lane LOL

And yes, there is a ton of cussing by the adults and the kids. In fact at the end of the last game Walter Mathau gives the kids beer to celebrate

DH and I just looked at each other in shock. Neither one of us remebered that part!!!

still.............it was a good movie!!! I hope the new one does it justice.

Yup, pretty much...

I love the main guy in this movie, Billy Bob Thornton. He was great in Bad Santa :rotfl2:

Took my almost 12 year old DS and 11 year old DNephew yesterday and we all loved it. Billy Bob made the movie. The language was rough but still in all a very funny movie. I liked it as much as the original. :sunny:

When I saw the preview, it was my impression that it was not a movie for kids (swearing, content etc). But, why on earth would adults want to see a movie about a kids baseball team? :confused3

I do, :flower: cause its a comedy that is I think more geared for older teens and adults........it is sorta the "shock" value of how they all interact...I am going this afternoon to see it......... :wave2:

Is it really that much different from when we saw the original as kids? I loved that movie, and my neighbor actually dated one of the actors from it...he was local.

It followed the storyline of the original pretty well....but there IS a lot of cussing and sexual innuendo and use of the middle finger salute... ;) I would say NO it is not for kids under 13 at all.....I did look at the rating and besides the PG-13 it had STRONGLY NOT RECOMMENDED attached and the reasons why........and yes, there were kids in the audience who I felt (JMHO) who should not have been viewing it...but they had adults/parents :rolleyes2 with them. I'm not a prude by any means, but it was pretty loaded with cussing and sexual content.

I thought it was very funny though and Billy Bob fit the part to a T...and all the kids were funny and cute in their own way.....I'm glad we went to see it. :)

Hence the PG-13 rating.

I don't understand why parents don't check the ratings of movies before they take their kids. :confused3

I just went and saw it this afternoon, my kids liked it but I think I felt a little disappointed, I loved Billy Bob as the coach, but I guess I wanted the same kids from the original....LOL

Of course the original "kids" couldn't be in this one as they are now 40 years old. I would like there to be cute kids in it. From what I have seen of the previews, this group is a very "rough" looking lot.

I love the Bad News Bears!! I can't wait to see the new version. I bet BBT does just as good of a job as Walter Matthau.

Loved Kelly, he was such a rebel :lovestruc

I love the original so I'd like to see the new one. My parents don't have a problem letting my 13 year old sister go see it with me. I can understand not letting a really little kid see it...but my sister hears the same kind of stuff when she walks through the halls at school. So I don't see the big deal in letting her see a movie where they curse a lot :confused3 At least it's being used in a comedic way :teeth:

I agree that they hear it everyday and that is the problem! Especially, when it is used in a comedic way! More and more people are adapting crude language into their everyday dialogue. :sad2:
