I just got a notice from airfare watchdog with departures from SCL to Tampa for $228 on Frontier. We have already paid $376.00 each for SWA to MCO. I was so surprised to see a savings of $88 per person.

With 7 people we could rent a minivan and still save over SWA.

I doubt DH will want to take longer to get to WDW so perhaps it is worth it after all.

Do think of other cities when flying, it can save money.

It's really pretty convenient to fly in/out of Tampa. Especially if you're staying off-site and getting a rental car no matter what (so the loss of ME is not a consideration).

It looks to me that the prices you listed are actually $148 less at Tampa, and I've also found much better prices an availibility at times there instead of MCO. If you have 7 people, a total savings of over $1000 by using Tampa would absolutely be worth it in my opinion!

I agree with the above poster. Prices you posted vary more than $88. For that much money, the extra hour drive wouldn't bother me. I wouldn't even consider MCO an option!

I am flying to Daytona Beach which is also an hour away. That saves me ~$50 each x4.
By the way, you should compare the car rental rate too. I got a medium size car for $177 plus tax ($226) for a week at DAB.

Update: I just switched to Alamo for a compact car at $158/wk including tax.
