Just saw an advance preview of this last night and it was really good! Definitely recommend it when it comes out! Tom Hanks was great as Walt.

Looking forward to seeing it but I'm having a hard time with Forest Gump as Walt.

We were treated to a one-hour preview of the movie on the DVC members cruise late Sept/early Oct. It looks to be very well done. It may not be a blockbuster at the box office, but Disney fans should be very pleased with it.![]()
Do you think it will be more entertaining for Mary Poppins fans or just Disney fans in general. As a Walt Disney fan, I'm not really interested simply because I think Disney made a mistake by casting someone in the lead role who has a completely opposite view than Walt on certain issues.
Tom Hanks has lost his charm but having him play Walt is just offensive.
I think Hanks is a really good actor and the scenes we saw were terrific. If you don't like Hanks as an actor, there's probably nothing in this film that will change your mind.
I don't understand the remark about views and issues.I think Hanks is a really good actor and the scenes we saw were terrific. If you don't like Hanks as an actor, there's probably nothing in this film that will change your mind. Keep in mind that the Walt we know best is the one we saw on tv, mostly talking about his work on projects. There are loads of books and articles on the man, but few among us can really say what it was like being in his presence. The scenes we saw weren't Hanks portraying Walt "as seen on tv" but attempting to create the story of how Walt convinced Travers to consent to Poppins being made into a movie. This was Walt the shrewd businessman and a convincing seller of ideas. It seems to be lighthearted though, the audience laughed quite a bit in the previews. As far as the movie being for Mary Poppins fans--there are no songs, dancing, special effects in this movie(not that we saw in the previews). Probably of more interest to fans of Walt Disney and Hollywood/Showbiz history.

I love Tom Hanks as an actor, but not as Walt. I think they should have cast someone who isn't as well known for his views on two topics which are inappropriate to go into on this board which are in opposition to Walt's views. I'm sure the casting people had all read the biographies that are out there before casting Hanks in the role. They would have done better casting an unknown IMO. I would have loved to see this movie with another actor as Walt. JMO
Are you saying that Tom Hanks is too nice and wholesome to play Walt? I agree that Hanks doesn't have the dark sides to him, but oh well...
Vidia2 said:No, not at all. You can just look up Walt on Wikipedia and compare his views with Hank's to see what I'm referring to. I realize I might be nitpicking but I may not be the only one to scrutinize who's portraying Walt Disney in a movie. Lol. Also, I'm not saying good or bad, or right or wrong, just opposites.
