For those of you who have to save money for a trip to Disney, like me, how do you do it? Do you set up a vacation account or just leave it in with the rest of your money? Do you send $ to Disney on some kind of weekly or monthly basis(can you do that?) or what?

Hey that's my name Savin4disney :rotfl: Sorry could not help it.

Okay here is what I am doing:
1. I am sending all my Ebay money straight to Disney. I have a paypal debit card and all my auctions are paypal only. So every 20.00 or more. I make a payment on my account.

2. Every payday I make a payment of at least $50.00 on my account. If I have more money after bills and expenses then I make another payment.

3. I save change. I did cash it in once. Cause I caught DS in it. Had 27.00 and made it into Disney Dollars

4. I do buy Disney Dollars when I go to the mall. Right now my stores are out of them. So I have been just doing the above.

5. I have a flex account and all medical expenses I pay for then turn in the reciepts and put that money on Disney too.

6. Try and cut back here at home. Don't eat out, hang wash, Watch lights.

7. Oh and I have an ING account (2.8% interest) I have money coming out of my check for this trip and for the next one I have already started thinking about. You can PM me about the ING if you don't have one.

Hope that helped!

DF and i are saving not only for our Disney Honeymoon, but for our wedding as well. We are paying for both ourselves :Pinkbounc (do we get a cookie or something?)
Anyway we are a young couple with a modest income, but we have been very surprised what a little cutting back can do. We agree and are doing everything Savin4disney is doing. The saving and cashing in Change adds up fast, we paid for our airfare this way already!! The other thing we are doing is commiting all "extra windfalls" of money (tax returns, bonuses, gift $$, etc.) goes directly into the wedding/disney account.

We are making payments on our Honeymoon, We booked in march and have until Aug for our OCT. trip. So we pay once a month, we are actually going to have it payed off early!! It truly is amazing what you can do and save when you put your mind to and if you truly want it bad enough.

The 1st thing my parents taught me about money and saving is you have to pay yourself 1st, even before the bills. if its $10 a week then thats fine, just promise yourself that much and then after all the bills are done put back whatever else you can afford. Good luck if you have anyother questions please PM us, We'd be glad to help :cheer2:

Here's what I do:

Divide hotel bill into 12 monthly payments and pay each month faithfully.

Buy $50 Disney dollars each week (this Disney dollar shortage put a crimp until I found out you could fax a request)

Save change. We haven't cashed ours in yet but I expect we'll have about $600 by the time we leave the end of June.

Use DIsney Visa reward dollars for a nice dinner or two in Disney.

Buy APs and schedule our yearly trips a few weeks apart so AP is good for both years

Use American Express for big bills like college tuitions and every two years we are able to fly for free (not bad for 5 people).

Any "extra" money I put away for Disney. Such as - my children are in parochial school and there is no bus to take them. We live 5 miles away from the school so the township gives us $750 per child. RIght now 2 are in elementary school so that was $1500 for Disney. Can't wait until ds starts kindergarten in September = another $750.

We have grandparents and relatives give the kids Disney dollars for birthdays and holidays so that they have their own spending money.

I have a vacation account in ING strictly for "Mouse Money". :) Been stashing money there for trips for the last 4 years.

Also save change, rebates, "found" money, occasional eBay sales, etc. Basically anything that doesn't have to go into the normal budget or normal savings account. :)
