Saving Dole Whip Float Money (Update 2/27: TR Link Posted!)

Fun stuff!! Love that t-shirt-- the subtlety is great! I love travel-sized minis, too! I just love how everyday things are so much more fun to buy when you know they're for a trip!

Great purchases! I love your tee, its so cute! :goodvibes

I love the shirt you and Joni got. I'm going to put it on my Christmas list :thumbsup2 Does it fit true to size?

Great purchases! :thumbsup2 I LOVE that game about idioms! :lovestruc I would love to have that because my freshmen just finished learning about idioms last week! I saw a shirt online once that I really wanted that said "Idioms are for the birds". :rotfl: That cracked me up!

Yay! I'm so glad you got the shirt! I love it so much. I have wanted to wear mine so many times but I made myself wait because I have this weird obsession with wearing new clothes on vacation. I'm not sure why, but I always try to save up new clothes anytime I have a trip coming up. I think it's because when I'm on vacation I try to do everything in my power to set myself up for a good time, and I always feel the most self confident when I am wearing new clothes so that helps make me happy! I know, I'm weird!

All of your containers are awesome! I've never seen the bottles for shampoo before. I always end up taking a full sized bottle of shampoo on vacation with me because one of the little travel bottles is never enough! But the full sized bottle is too big and bulky. I definitely need to get these!

Oh by the way, to Christina: I think the shirt is pretty true to size! I wouldn't recommend going up a size though, because if anything it is a little bit loose! :)

Love all the stuff you bought! :thumbsup2 I really love that castle tee shirt, I think I might have to get that for my next trip!

And I love how most of your travel bottles are pink! I do the same thing, but with purple...if something is purple, I get so excited...I bought a little purple travel bottle for my trip and every time I looked at it in the shower, it would make me happy. Yes, I'm a huge dork...or have no life, not sure which it is! :rotfl:

Yay, an update! I've been so bad about updating my TR/PTR too. Only 3 weeks left until winter break. haha

Great trip purchases. I like the shirt you got for yourself. It is cute with the castle and hearts and all! LOL, I was even going to say, don't you already have your prince? :rotfl:

That pictionary game sounds kind of fun. Might have to look into that myself.

So what did you think of Toy Story 3?

I really WANT to write! I just wish that I had more time to do it! I take pics of things or get things, and I'm like, "Yeah, for the PTR!" but then it doesn't happen until weeks later ... haha.

Haha yes, my prince is already in my life, but that's why it's perfect that he bought it for me :lovestruc

I was going a little bit crazy on the inside when the kids were playing the Pictionary game because I told them, "I just opened this, and it wasn't bought for you guys. If you bend my cards, you're buying me a new set." Haha, I'm really much too particular for my own good ...

I really liked TS3!!! I do admit that it was much more stressful than the other ones though, haha.

Yay for trip purchases! I love getting things for vacation. I really like that castle tee you got. I debated so long on getting more tees during the Black Friday sale online for DD, but then forgot a bit and just missed out altogether. Oh well.

Funny thing about your post, I was planning on heading to Five Below or Christmas Tree Shops to look for some stocking stuffers today.

I would've bought all my shirts during Black Friday if I hadn't rushed ... but who knows if they still would've been there. Oh well! I know $12 is still a good deal considering I'll be wearing them for a long time!

I <3 Five Below and Christmas Tree Shops! Gotta have the patience to look though because there's just so much grabbing for your attention!

I love your t-shirt! It's so cute, with the castle and hearts! I'm gonna have to look for that now!

I too am obsessed with any travel containers. I have a bunch of them. They are so convenient and a great way to use up products. I like how yours is pink too! Very cute.

I really like that Disney is coming out with shirts that are more appropriate for non-work occasions, haha. Well, at least MY work because I can wear shirts that have a huge Mickey on them during my dress down days at school. However, I may not feel as comfortable doing that in certain public places because it makes me look younger! The castle shirt is perfect to have some Disney in a more subtle manner.

I think I'm turning into my mom because she's obsessed with travel containers! I think I didn't care as much beforehand because I never went on vacation without her!

Fun stuff!! Love that t-shirt-- the subtlety is great! I love travel-sized minis, too! I just love how everyday things are so much more fun to buy when you know they're for a trip!

It's true that it's more fun for a trip! I can't imagine all of us DISers taking pics of our regular sized shampoo bottles at home and having others get excited about it, haha.

Great purchases! I love your tee, its so cute! :goodvibes

Thanks! I wore it for Thanksgiving, and my family liked it too!

I love the shirt you and Joni got. I'm going to put it on my Christmas list :thumbsup2 Does it fit true to size?

It fits true to size for Disney shirts. In other clothes, I wear a medium, but Disney shirts are a little bigger or looser on me. That's why I've started getting small so that it can be a bit more form-fitting.

Great purchases! :thumbsup2 I LOVE that game about idioms! :lovestruc I would love to have that because my freshmen just finished learning about idioms last week! I saw a shirt online once that I really wanted that said "Idioms are for the birds". :rotfl: That cracked me up!

I scope out stores like Christmas Tree Shops and Five Below for those word games! I love them so much! The one I got at CTS a few years ago was Blurt, and my kids LOVE it despite the fact that they thought it'd be boring once I told them it was definitions. Haha, they don't like to trust me with games, but I pick really good ones for them to play (and to be slightly educational just in case someone walks in :rolleyes1). I'm sure all the games I like would be games that you like!

I thought that I'd wait for vacation to wear it, but mine is way too far off! Haha. Plus, I've been wearing the same Disney shirts to school things for a while. I want them to see that I have different clothes! Haha. One girl already commented that I have a lot of v-neck things ...

My cousin Danielle always brings full-size bottles! Haha, I'd see it in the shower at our church retreats. Then I'd end up using it because I didn't want to deal with my little bottle!!!

Yeah, Disney shirts are a bit looser, I think. But it works out well when I don't feel like sucking in my stomach so much :rotfl:

Love all the stuff you bought! :thumbsup2 I really love that castle tee shirt, I think I might have to get that for my next trip!

You should get that shirt too! Then Joni, you, and I should meet up (haha, like it's so easy) at MK to take a picture in front of the real castle! :cutie:

If you're a huge dork with no life because you get excited by your purple travel bottle, I'm also a huge dork with no life because I want to see your purple travel bottle!

Thanks for a new update, Rachel. I completely understand about being so busy. I hate it when I'm just too tired to "DIS". :headache: Did I already mention how cute you and Weird are together? If not, you really are an adorable couple. :lovestruc

I just love your new t-shirt. I would definitely be in trouble if I had a Disney store nearby!

With my crazy week last week (formal observation and 2 days of parent teacher conference), I really had no time to DIS. I'm still exhausted from it! At least this week we have a school trip, so I have a few periods off from my teaching even though sometimes they can be more stressful! Haha, this one should be okay though since we're going to see a play that's close by at a local college so it's get on the bus - get off the bus - see the play - get on the bus - get off the bus. Haha, not as much stress.

Thanks, I like Weird and me as a couple too :cloud9:. I think it's so cool that some of you DISers have seen us through the phases of our relationship to get to this point. I started on DIS when we were just friends even though we were back to being best friends again. Many people asked if we were dating, and we explained that we used to date. Then we got back together, and it was funny to see that everyone was excited about it because they felt that they knew us through our threads. Now we're engaged, and it's so great to know I have so many friends here cheering us on :grouphug:

Haha, Howard and I have gotten pretty good with knowing how cheap is cheap, so that's why we don't always buy when we go to the Disney Store. Plus, ours isn't that that big so I guess it's unfortunate and fortunate at the same time!

Snacks for Amtrak

Even though there's a dining car and a snack car on our Amtrak train, I've done a lot of reading and research and found out that the things can be rather pricey. I mean, it makes a lot of sense! Knowing that, we're thinking about snacks that we might want to get ahead of time and bring on with us so that we don't have to spend anything on snacks. I think right now, it'll just be dinner and breakfast that'll be eaten in the dining car. I'm sure we could get sandwiches for our lunch since we leave at 11am.

Anyway, I know that we have to bring some pretty yummy snacks! I don't want anything that's going to make me feel gross (ex. even though I love Chinese snacks and other Asian snacks - like stuff you can find at Mitsukoshi in Epcot, some of them have MSG and that makes me sick). I also don't want anything that's going to be giving me bad breath or that'll be strong in scent or flavor. I don't want the people around us to be bothered by it (haha, I hope no passenger decides to bring tuna on board!). Lastly, I also want to make sure that we have snacks that we normally don't get on a regular basis so there's something special about the ride. Just in case we get a little antsy on board from being confined for so long, a special snack can help make us feel better.

I already know that I want to get popchips! I've only gotten it twice in my life. I heard about it through WhateverHollywood on YouTube and was excited to see it at a Duane Reade in the city. It was as yummy as I expected it to be! I got it only one more time after the fact because it is kind of expensive. However, it's the perfect snack for Amtrak because it's not greasy or oily.

Howard wants pumpkin seeds. Haha, I don't know why he loves 'em so much, but he really does! I was listing all this junk food kind of stuff that I want to have, and he said pumpkin seeds! Such a weirdo ;)

This is the other snack that I know I want to get. It's a Bear Claw from Panera! I recently joined their rewards club thing, and the first treat was a free pastry. I never had a pastry from there before, so I chose this because it was the biggest one (hehe) and because it wasn't a cheese or fruity danish, which I don't like. Mmm, it was so good! It's an almond pastry, but it's so tasty and flaky! I ate it 3 separate times. I told myself I wouldn't get another one until February, so that'll also be a treat!

A121.jpg

Of course, these things are on top of fruit snacks (low blood sugar or nausea) as well as pretzels and ginger ale (nausea). Hmm, I wonder what other snacks we can bring ...

That bearclaw looks delicious!

I vote for some Pocky snacks for the train ride - you can get a fun assortment of flavors. Also, those japanese rice cakes - I don't remember exactly what they are called, but I remember they are so good! Some of them are just plain (with a bit of salt flavor) or some come drizzled with a bit of "frosting."

I love snack foods!

I love bearclaws!! Never had Panera's, but it looks yummy! Other snacks-- hearty fruits like apples will fill you up, especially if you aren't a huge fan of what they have in the dining car.

I'm ready to play a round of your game! Ha ha! Back when I posted that last comment, I didn't even know you were playing!

And now you've added 2 more travelers to your trip--you guys are going to have so much fun!

I've always wanted to take Amtrak somewhere--I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it. :goodvibes

We recently got a Panera near where I live--yum! I used to only get to eat there once a year or so when we visit Branson, MO; but not anymore! I think I'll have to try a bearclaw soon!

I could think of so many snacks right now...maybe thats because I haven't eaten yet today! :rotfl:

That bearclaw looks yummy! :thumbsup2

Those are great snack ideas! That bear claw looks amazing! :lovestruc There is a big billboard on my way home from work for Panera that has all of these delicious breads and sweets on it, and every single day I drive by it I have to stop myself from swerving off of the road because I'm staring at it! :rotfl:

You should get that shirt too! Then Joni, you, and I should meet up (haha, like it's so easy) at MK to take a picture in front of the real castle!

Awww, that would be so cute! :thumbsup2 I wish it was that easy, I want to do a DIS trip someday soooo bad! I actually went to order that tee a few days ago and it's not there right now...so I went to the Disney store that is almost an hour away to look for it (we only have ONE Disney store in CT!) and they didn't have it either! It must be pretty popular!

Love the snacks for the trip! The bear claw looks soooo good, I didn't know Panera had those! I have to stay away from Panera, I'm so obsessed with their baked potato soup, it's almost as good as the cheddar cheese soup from Le Cellier! So I try not to go there very much, otherwise I will want that soup all the time! :rotfl:

What? I had no idea you started a PTR! I'm so behind already!

Ok, as soon as I do a bit more studying....I'll come and catch up.

Traveling with friends (and family too) close to your own age is the best! I can't wait to read about your trip after!

Also, I believe what LilAnn was referring to as onigiri, rice balls!

And yes, Pocky is such a great snack. I haven't eaten one in a LOOOONG time. My fave is the dark chocolate pocky, that used to be called Men's pocky. I used to joke that I became a man when I ate it.

Love. The. Purple. Shirt!

It's actually kind of a dark grey, but I still love it every time I see it!!!

That bearclaw looks delicious!

It really was so yummy! I spread it out over 3 days, so I enjoyed a little each time I worked at the computer. I like that it was a pastry that lasted a long time. I don't typically like spending a couple of dollars on something that is done and finished so quickly. Even when Howard and I had the Dole Whip Float, we enjoyed it slowly!

Mmm, I should totally get some of the original Pocky! I really like the salty flavors like "Salad" (haha although it doesn't taste like salad ...), but if I eat too much of that, it'll get me sick. Chocolate Pocky won't though! I have to stop by the stores in Chinatown before we go. Asian snacks are so much more flavorful!

I love bearclaws!! Never had Panera's, but it looks yummy! Other snacks-- hearty fruits like apples will fill you up, especially if you aren't a huge fan of what they have in the dining car.

Oh wow, I didn't know that they were a common pastry! I thought it was a Panera only thing. Hmm, I could actually go for some apple slices, like the ones that are pre-packaged. I know they're not as good as fresh ones, but I can't imagine biting into an apple on Amtrak. I also don't know how to keep them from turning brown if I cut it myself (I mean, I know acid like lemon keeps it from turning brown, but I try to avoid that much acid because of reflux). My mom will probably tell me to bring a banana, haha.

I'm ready to play a round of your game! Ha ha! Back when I posted that last comment, I didn't even know you were playing!

Get ready for the rounds because I'm posting 2 after this update! I'm going to try to post more often since we're getting closer to the trip.

We are so excited for this trip even more now that my cousin's going. Nikki is BEYOND excited. It's probably because she knew we were going and wasn't sure if she could also go, so when it was decided, it was that much more thrilling!

I'm excited to go on Amtrak and to write about it because it's not as common on DIS. My mom's actually jealous because she always wanted to ride Amtrak to go somewhere too!

Howard and I have special moments at Panera for some reason. We went there the day we picked out the first engagement ring. We then went there the day we picked up the actual engagement ring too! We go there after important moments. And we go there just because we love the food, haha. Their Napa Almond Chicken Salad sandwich and their Asian Sesame Chicken Salad and their Tomato Soup ... YUMMM.

I could think of so many snacks right now...maybe thats because I haven't eaten yet today! :rotfl:

That bearclaw looks yummy! :thumbsup2

I want to be loaded with so many snacks because I refuse to buy an expensive snack on the train. I can imagine a bag of Doritos costing $3 or something like that!

Those are great snack ideas! That bear claw looks amazing! :lovestruc There is a big billboard on my way home from work for Panera that has all of these delicious breads and sweets on it, and every single day I drive by it I have to stop myself from swerving off of the road because I'm staring at it! :rotfl:

Panera bread makes their sandwiches that much better. It kind of reminds me of Earl of Sandwich even though they're different styles of bread and sandwiches. I like that I can have something that reminds me of EoS back at home!

Awww, that would be so cute! :thumbsup2 I wish it was that easy, I want to do a DIS trip someday soooo bad! I've only met one DISer, Sarah (wdwgirl03) this past trip. I think it'd be fun to meet more because we all share a common interest (sometimes to a fanatical degree).

Wow, I can't imagine having to travel and hour to get to a Disney Store. I guess I've gotten spoiled by always having it at my local mall.

Mmm, I've never tried their baked potato soup! The last one I tried was their cream of chicken and wild rice. Boy, that was good! Normally I get tomato, but I wanted a change. I should really try more, but at the same time, if I do, I'm going to want to go more often!

What? I had no idea you started a PTR! I'm so behind already!

Ok, as soon as I do a bit more studying....I'll come and catch up.

Don't worry, it'll still be here AFTER you study, hehe. That's why I purposely put the chapter links to make it easier to catch up!

I know Men's Pocky! Haha, I always thought it was so strange that they called it that. I wonder who started that and thought, "Hmm, what a good name!"

I haven't posted a round of Character Scrambler in AGES! The last time I did was 2 months ago! Just like the past few times I've posted, I'll be posting 2 rounds so that 2 people can get a point each time. Please post the answer to ONE round only! Thanks, and have fun! I know Men's Pocky! Haha, I always thought it was so strange that they called it that. I wonder who started that and thought, "Hmm, what a good name!"

Thanks to your handy dandy links, I'm all caught up! *taking a break from studying*

Maaan, I love those Disney shirts that you got! It reminds me that I should get to the Disney Outlet soon..... Walmart has tons of cute Disney shirts! I bought myself a bunch of them.

Ooooh, Amtrack! Now you're giving ME the idea to take that......I'll have to think about it....I've always wanted to go on long train rides!

You've only ever been to AK once? Wooow. I definitely really like AK. And as much as I do enjoy Dinosaur, I'm still thoroughly terrified of it. I still can't look up at the dinosaur.

I dunno what people have told you about EE, but I hope it has convinced you to give it a try! It's so much fuuun!!!!!! But then, I AM a big fan of rollercoasters so I'm biased.

I really liked all that travel stuff you got. I tried looking for that stuff before my trip, but wasn't able to find a lot. I guess I'll try harder for my next trip. One thing I really liked were toothbrush holders. Great way to pack your toothbrush away.

Huh....cutting up make up remover clothes? I never thought of that! I tend to reuse mine cause it's a waste for just one use. I should start cutting it....

It was called Men's Pocky cause (and I heard this on the internet or from a friend) Glico was trying to get guys to eat more Pocky, so they did a study of what kind of chocolate guys like, and dark chocolate took the vote. That sounds like a pretty valid reason for the name. Dark is pretty much the only chocolate I eat. In high school, I always had a box of that stuff on me.
