The itinerary we received from DCL for our July 6th cruise states that we will be dining in Lumiere's on Saturday night. From everything I've read, the dress code is casual for the first night since many people either don't have time to change (with everything going on the first few hours on board & the Sailaway Party) or there luggage may not arrive in sufficient time.

So, what is the dress code for Lumiere's on Saturday night? Our DCL itinerary says "Casual." Does this mean shorts, since that's what 95% of the people will be wearing when they get on board the ship?

For past cruisers, what were people wearing at Saturday night dinner?

Thanks!:smooth:

I didn't think shorts were ever appropriate in the dining rooms on DCL. I threw a pair of slacks in our carryon, and changed into those prior to dinner. Wife likewise had some nice slacks that worked fine.

No shorts, unless for some reason your luggage does not arrive in your stateroom in time to change for dinner.

Casual on DCL means casual pants and polo shirts (or the like) for men and casual pants, skirts or dresses for the ladies. :D

On our cruise earlier this month, we were in Tritons the first night and everyone seemed to be dressed in less casual attire. Most of the men had on jackets. I wore a skirt/top and DH and DS both wore jackets and slacks. Didn't see anyone in shorts. The photographers did come around and take pictures that night at the table so I was glad we looked decent. Our luggage arrived around 2 PM so that wasn't a problem.

wovenwonder....I think they are doing vow renewals so they were able to get an itinerary ahead of time from Disney.

Did I miss something? Is DCL now giving out your dining rotation prior to boarding?

Yes, my DW and I are renewing our vows on the July 6th cruise. The Disney Wedding Planners sent us an itinerary earlier this week and it has our dining rotation on it.

this is just a commentary on the whole shorts question.....
like nudity by the pool, shorts seem to be a cultural thing...
that is, shorts on women....which seems to be an entirely american phenomenon....
where we live, a dead giveaway that you're looking at an american tourist is if she's attired in shorts.....
women here just don't wear them....
they may walk around half undressed.....in slinky dresses that barely cover anything.....and pants with a top that reveal all..... but shorts?....no.....not ever.....
an american friend of mine was just lamenting all her lonely shorts sitting unused in her closet....
i don't even have any anymore...

disneyholic family-

Pardon me asking, but where are you from? I'd like to know so that I can dress in fashion if I ever travel in your part of the world.
