Satellite radio subscribers: Sirius or XM??

I am an XM person. I love it. I have Sirius with my dish network and we hate it1 We prefer to listen to XM :thumbsup2

Sirius for me. Got it because of Howard Stern, like it more because of Bubba the Love Sponge and Scotty Ferrel, love it for getting NASCAR in 2007. My commute to and from work is totally different because of Sirius. I look around at all the other stranded commuters and they must think I'm weird because I'll be stuck in traffic and busting a gut at the same time.

6008 (Big 80's I believe) and 6022 (First Wave) are the two primary stations I listen to (when DH is out of the house for the day with DS4). First Wave is just like the old WLIR that used to be on the regular FM dial. Larry the Duck actually was a DJ on that station before their format completely changed. I dont' like listening to Dark Wave though. Too heavy and gothic-like (or punk?) for me.

Had XM for a year in the car, then kept hearing Sirius's "First Wave" station at a local restaurant we frequently dine at. I told dh I had to have Sirius instead! Just sold me on that one station alone. There's no stations like that on XM, Ethel and Lucy don't come close. That's about the closest you get to "alternative" from the 80's. Plus there are SEVERAL other rock related stations on Sirius which has XM beat by a mile. If you like Rock and 80's type music you'll prefer Sirius. (just wish I could use my XM antenna as it does drift off sometimes because I keep the antenna inside the car on the back window ledge).

I've had it for almost 2 years now and love it, dh finally jumped on board when I got him a receiver for his birthday. The other plus is that it's FREE to listen to on the internet too, you have to pay extra to listen to XM on the internet. We have it on Directv but never really listen to it (except when dd listens to Radio Disney, but Sirius carries it as well).

It's all the matter of what type of music you listen to. There's also tons of "talk" radio stations as well.

Sirius-ly I dig Sirius. That is what I have got on my moped. And so you know the Sirius receivers also have the song marking feature which alerts you when the song is played again on any Sirius station.

I bought Sirius exclusively for Howard Stern, and was thrilled with so many of the other channels. Either way you go, satellite is way better than old fashioned radio.

Did XM use to charge to listen on the internet? I'm able to listen for free.

Same here.

Fred (channel 44 on XM) is 80's new wave. It is one of dh's fav channels.

USED to charge back when basic service was $10/month. Internet (and Opie and Anthony) became free when they went to $13/month.
