I need to get a 50th anniversary gift today for my sister's MIL. They are having a party for them on Saturday night. I've got no idea what to get. I just know it won't be a plate with a big old 50 in the middle. Ideas anyone?

It is going to be a long long time before they let folks back into Galveston. So much of it is destroyed. People are really really mad about it. While I can see both sides, it would be really sad to know I had something left that I could get to. So many of the homes are jsut not there anymore, but there are also alot that are there. If there was even a chanve I could recover something from my damaged home I would want to be allowed in to get it.

Supposedly, they are trying to work up a plan to let people back in in sections. It is going to end up like Katrina......everything a complete loss due to looters, mold, and the elements

We have a friend who had 5 ft of water in her house....not in Galveston...she lives not too far from me. I don;t think they are allowed to stay at their house, but they are being allowed in to work on the clean up. Lucklily, she had a second floor that she moved a bunch of the most important stuff to. SHe has still lost alot but it could have been so much worse.

I was stil unable to find much fresh meat around. I am hoping today will be the day We also might order a pizza tonight......if that happens I can almost believe things are normal around here

I am doing my best to keep the images off the tv. we have had alot of news coverage showing the devastation. I don;t think that is good for the kids. My sister is going to go to a post tramatic stress class. I'm thinking it will be good for her.
