this is the news station i like the best..... there is a video of the Kemah Boardwalk...that is not far from my street.

So far we are doing fine. The winds are really picking up here. I will send texts to Becca if I lose power.

Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers.

Tricia...how are you doing? Still getting yucky weather? Hopefully you are not getting tornados.

Heather  Thanks for checking in. The children holding ok?

Hang in there Heather!! I'll be praying for you guys!

And, speaking of prayers... Please keep my brothers in your thoughts & prayers-- their mom was killed last night by a drunk driver.

She was on the way from Boston to my brother Jay's house near Philly for my niece's birthday this weekend, and was hit head-on. She never showed up at their house (accident happened at 1:47 am--- she was supposed to get to their house around 1 am). He spent all day at work calling police stations & hospitals up & down the East coast. I guess a co-worker overheard him, and mentioned an accident on I-476, right near the exit to his house. He googled it, and when he read it involved the fatality of a 63 yr old woman, he just knew.

Anyway, I'll be headed to Ohio sometime this week/next weekend for the funeral. I just feel so awful for them. She was a really nice lady, and an even better grandma. :sad1:

Heather, are you here? How is the storm going? I heard the worst of it should be really late tonight - is that what you have heard?

Hi, Things!

Shannon, I am so sorry! :sad2: That is truly tragic. What's with people? How can you not know to not drive when you have been drinking? How are the grandkids doing?

Oh, Shannon, I am so sorry to hear that. That is a terrible tragedy.
My sympathies to your family, and especially to your niece whose birthday celebration was to be this weekend...

Shannon, I'm so sorry. What an awful tragedy. It makes me so sad and mad that people still drive drunk. But, they are the ones that walk away and they kill innocent people. Your whole family will be in my thoughts.

Heather, I hope you are enjoying family time at the very least. Will Jasmine go out in this weather?

Oh Shannon! That is terrible! I'm so sorry!! I hope the drunk driver was killed, too!! Is that awful of me?? I'm so sick of them killing people and then walking away from the accident! I will say a prayer for your family!!

Shannon what a tragic loss. I'm so sorry to hear that and of course prayers are being said for your family.

Heather I'm impressed that you still have power. It's still very windy here and just a few miles from me on the lakefront it flooded. High tide was this afternoon so things should be improving soon for them. They had about three feet of water today as well as for Gustav. Ike hasn't been too much of a rain maker for us it's mostly wind. We are no longer in a tornado watch so that's a relief too. I've been watching the news all afternoon and thinking of you. Stay safe!:grouphug:

I don;t think we are going to have power much longer....the lights have flickered and dimmed several times. I am glad ya'll are doing ok. I hope this will be over soon.

Hi Somethings!

It is about 3 in the morning here. So far we have weathered the storm ok. It isn;t over yet....we are in the eye right now. We ahve some trees down in the back yard but all our front trees are still standing ....so far.

I am in total shock that I have power right now. It has flickered a few times but then came back on.

I will check in again in the morning....I am going now to try to get a few hours sleep.

Thanks for all the prayers.....they have really helped.

Heather:hug: Live reports, girl you rock :thumbsup2

Shannon, You and your family are in my prayers.:grouphug:

Morning, Things! Heather, did you get through Ike okay? That thing was huge! I am also impressed that you had power at 3 am - did it take long for the eye to pass? I hope it's all okay now.

Gotta run to swim practice - see ya'll later!

Happy Birthday Bonnie

Good morning ladies.

Heather I'm so impressed that you still had power early into the morning. Your power company is much better than ours for sure. I'm still praying for everyone in Ike's path. How are the kids doing? I know how scary those things can be and they always tend to make landfall in the night.

Happy Birthday Bonnie!

I just got a text from Heather, they finally lost power about 5:30. Only minor flooding on their street and some trees down.
