Good morning Sassies! Hot and humid here today. I hate monsoon season.

Heather and Tricia~I have faith that Gustav will blow itself out before making landfall. Try not to worry too much!

Heather~that's wonderful that Kate had so much fun at school!! Now let's just hope she continues to feel that way!

Tricia~I saw a House Hunters the other night that I think was in your neck of the woods. Are you anywhere near Slidell?

Becca~I'm not sure if I wanna read those chapters or not. It would probably just make me more impatient to read the whole thing!! I wonder when it's coming out? DH used one of those ear candles once. I'm not sure if it really worked or not, but whatever you do use them OUTSIDE! He did it inside and put a paper plate underneath to catch stuff and he caught the plate on fire!! Really smart, huh?

Judi~congrats on the tag!! It's about time! No camperless campouts for Labor Day?

Shirley~any update on Danny? Why do the teen years have to be so hard??

Bonnie~are you feeling any better today? How did your open house go? Are the girls excited or bummed that school's starting?

Wilma~When does swim team start again? Is Barney enjoying Landscaping class, or has he even had his first class yet? School lockers bring back such lovely memories. I actually had locker #666 in jr. high!

We have no plans for this weekend. Maybe catch a movie, and I'd really like to go to the Farmers Market Saturday morning if I can talk DH into it.

It's raining here. I am happy cause we have needed rain for a while now...grass is turning yellow! It is going to rain over Labor Day weekend though, so that kinda sucks.

Hi Shirley! Good luck with DH's cataract surgery today! Hope it goes well and that he does not whine too much!

Angus, I am starting to feel better, thanks! I'm still really tired but not as achy. Open House went well. No, not ready for school to start, I need more time to get used to the idea!

Tricia, have you done any shopping lately? You are the shopping guru of all of us! You always find the best deals.

Becca, I don't blame you, I don't stick Q-tips in my kids' ears either, but I let them do it carefully on their own, as long as I'm around.

Shannon, we are waiting for an update on your drinking and carousing at the beach!

The dog is whining becuase Kate went to school without her....again I guess she feels she needs to brush up on her reading skills.

I don't really have any new Joey stories, but we are going back to the doctor today so I am sure he will provide some entertainment.

Tricia~ Mom and I were watching the news about Gustav and laughing at the computer models they were showing. They were forcasting how strong it would be and where it would land and when they showed all 5 or 6 models they had every locationa nd every different category covered. I guess they wanted to have all their bases covered and this way they can say....see, we were right and we are the best news station there is

Kate said her teacher isn't going to give them homework the first two weeks. I told Kate I was going to have to call her teacher and tell her she needs to make an exception for Kate and give her lots and LOTS of homework You know what Kate said to me?

Shirley, hoping your dh surgery goes well today. I can't even put eyedrops in my eyes so even thinking about having surgery on them is not a good feeling. Even if they are someone elses jellybags.

Bonnie, glad to hear you are feeling better. I can't believe school starts next week already. Summer went to fast! Do you have any plans to make up for the missed hillbilly hunt?

Judi, yes I would enjoy more of Bonnie's kinfolk. They are so interesting! You working this weekend? I'm working Saturday, I keep buying stuff so I'm having a hard time working up to the credit I need. I think that means I will be working a lot this winter.

Tricia, heres hoping Gustav turns around and flees. Give him your best mom stink eye and he'll run in fear. Do you have the hurricane boards for your windows like Heather does? I'm watching the weather channel a lot and saying a prayer for you and your neighbors.

Angie, I almost didn't read Midnight Sun either, but I needed to read something to make up for Breaking Dawn so I did. I'm glad I did too it was great. Are you ready for your big long weekend? I guess with your back you can't do much 4 wheeling can you?

Heather, send that dog to school! She obviously wants to go and I'm sure she will be better behaved than some of the kids there.

Hi everyone!!

School for me is going fine. I have to teach 2 sessions for writing courses that need library resources tomorrow. And I have one Monday. I am still trying to figure out issues with our latest upgrade of our library system - that is a pain.

Maverick's first day of school was good. He was excited he got to come to volleyball practice after school. With only one day in, we already have a player with a school suspension -- unbelievable!!!

I had to go with DH to a funeral today for a young man he worked with -- only 22. So very, very sad. Turns out he had a heart valve issue that was never discovered.

Tricia -- Hang in there. Here's to it dissipating.
Heather -- looking forward to more Joey stories!! Let me know how your dog likes school -- I am about ready to send Atlas to school, or detention, or something...
Bonnie -- I was so looking forward to the Hillbilly Hunt stories...Hope you get to go soon...
Angie -- I really hope your back pain gets alleviated fast. I am sure time seems so slow right now.
Becca -- I do use Q-tips in my son's ears, but stay to the outside. Cleaning his ears is almost the grossest thing I do...

Good afternoon, Sassy ones! How is everyone?

I had my first Open House this morning (I am teaching three different classes the year, this one was for my Tues/Thurs) class. Went pretty well, except for one little girl who cried for 35 minutes straight while her mom went out to talk to the Director. Wouldn't let us near her, let alone hold her. Not sure she's ready, but eveyone else did well. Two more Open Houses tomorrow and then we jump into it all next week. Hooray!

Bonnie - bummer about the Hillbilly hunt. Judi did a good job tracking them down for you, though! How was your Open House? Do you guys start classes Tuesday or before?

Judi - thanks for livening things up, lady! We haven't had a Mr. Judi report lately - how is he?

Angie - Did you watch PR last night? Kenly is bothering me - she's a whiner. I thought the challenge was good, though. Looks like they are going to segue into Top Design - do you watch that one?

Heather - how was the doctor's appointment? Lucky Kate with regards to the homework! Don't tell Barney - he'll be jealous!

Tricia - I need you to begin my Christmas shopping for me. When I decided to work 5 days a week last year, I neglected to consider Christmas shopping issues. But, you being the Shopping Queen, I figure you can save me. Oh, and Barney's homework is okay, it's just the typing that's a problem. New for sixth grade, everything has to be typed. He's a poor typist so the typing takes FOREVER! Plus, it's sucking up my computer time. I have a friend who has an old laptop that she said she'd lend him for the year, though, so that's good. Do you have this issue with any of your kids?

Becca - are you still working with the twins? How old are they now? We have not had a Speck report in ages - how is the canine companion?

Shannon - I agree with Bonnie - where is the beach report? And what were you drinking, anyway?

Shirley - Has your DH had cataract surgery before? Hope it goes well!

Julie, SuperPup will sail through puppy classes, I am sure. No detention for that boy. He'll end up "Most likely to entertain via the internet", at the graduation.

Do you have any easy and painless ways to teach kids to footnote? I can never remember the format. Help!
