Hey hags! Just home from the movie. I love alvin & the Chipmunks, it was really well done. I started dozing off a couple times in the middle though...I haven't been sleeping as much as I should. I'm gonna take a nap today!

We have hay & Christmas trees up here. Small piece of the property has trees, but I'm not walking to it.

Bonnie adopted my Mom thur her chemo angel program and my Mom is thrilled. Finally got her to sleep earlier, she wakes up and that's the first thing she starts talking about. :)

Dear Flintstone's hope you are all doing well.:flower3:

Yay! I'm glad she is happy about it! I love doing it. Did I tell you my girls want to help with it too? Heather is working on a note to your mom today and we will get it mailed out either today or tomorrow. :yay: I am gonna send you a little questionaire so I can get more info about your mom, I'll find it and PM it to you! :goodvibes
Are men allowed to chat in the sassy somethings threadd?

Hi there, Capjack! Of course men are allowed! Unless you're a perv, then you are 86'd! ;) Anyway, I'm Bonnie and we welcome you to the thread! Tell us all about yourself!

capjack,
12.gif

Ok Bonnie, Mom is now the dictation queen. So be prepared for novels via me.:rotfl: Would you care to know when I took my first steps.:scared1:

Woo hooo! Dictation is the best. Remember the days when secretaries used to write short hand as their boss dictated memos to them? Wonder why no one does that anymore? Or maybe they do and I just don't know about it. :confused3

Okay, so yeah....I wanna know what your first words were ("Becca's a freak", right? ;) )and all the scandalous things you did as a teenager. And any nicknames you had growing up! :teeth:

Welcome Capjack, of course men are welcome as long as there is no farting or burping.:rotfl2: Crap, that means Bonnie wouldn't be allowed in doesn't it?

Crap!! You know how much I love to fart and burp! :guilty:

I think that would negate a lot our memberships, but not mine. At least I have never heard myself snore.:snooty:

Well Angie and I have....

;)

I said I never heard myself snore, so its fine that you and Angus did. Crap, do I really? Now I need some breathe right strips from Judi.:upsidedow

I said I never heard myself snore, so its fine that you and Angus did. Crap, do I really? Now I need some breathe right strips from Judi.:upsidedow

Just kidding...I never heard you snore once...I was too busy snoring myself! :rotfl:

What are you up to today, Bex? It's rainy today so I'm staying home the rest of the day. Plus I'm gonna take a snooze after lunch.

Oh, and Angus, was that you asking about the oil cleansing treatment? Yes, i did it last night and this morning. It's interesting...not as unpleasant as I thought it would be, actually. My skin is softer but I think it will take a good week or so before I know whether or not it is a good treatment. I did not think oil would get my skin clean or get my makeup off but it did a good job!

Whoosh, you didn't snore either. It was actually Angie.

Glad to here you didn't disappear in an oil slick. Does it make your face feel clean? It doesn't seem like it would cleanse well.:confused3

Yeah, it cleansed pretty well actually, I was surprised. Here, I'll attach the post about it that I read on another board:

This is for ALL skin types & I highly recommend it! You'll really be amazed at what it will do for your skin!

The Oil Cleansing Method

Well, my routine is very different than everyone else's, so I thought I'd post it. I use what is called the oil cleansing method to clean my face. I use a mixture of castor oil and olive oil, with a few drops of lavander oil as well. You'd think it would just make things worse, but it makes my skin look so nice! I have HUGE pores, and they were all full of blackheads. The last 2 times I had a facial, the lady said there was nothing she could do for me--my pores were just too clogged.

Here is an article on the oil cleansing method:

When cleansing and moisturizing your skin, it is imperative that you keep in mind that oil disolves oil. Do not be afraid of applying oil to your face. Oil, alone, will not cause you blemishes. Pimples, cysts, zits, blackheads and whiteheads are a result of several different factors including hormones, bacteria, dead skin cells and the buildup of these factors. Your skin naturally produces oil because it needs it. It is not a malicious force to be reckoned with, it is there for the benefit of your skin. It is naturally occurring. Oil helps lubricate, heal, protect, and moisturize your skin so that it may function properly. Properly functioning skin is beautiful, clear, and glowing.

While I'm talking about the benefits of oil applied externally, I'd like to mention how important it is to moisturize from the inside as well. WATER! Drink no less than 8 glasses of water a day. If your skin has issues with blemishes, drink up! Water will help release and remove the toxins from within, leaving behind glowing, dewey, toned skin. Carry a bottle of water around with you throughout the day so water is always available.

Now, to the point of this article.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) is used for moisture, while Castor Oil (CO) is used for cleansing. Castor Oil tends to be a bit on the thick side, so a mix of the two (EVOO/CO) is frequently used. This allows for the Castor Oil to really sink into the pores and draw out the dirt and grime to the surface. You can vary this ratio to match your skins needs. More EVOO for moisture or more CO for cleansing (25/75 EVOO/CO for Oily skin, or 75/25 EVOO/CO for dry skin). EVOO is incredibly high in antioxidants, while CO is excellent for drawing and healing. CO has been the focus of many books and medical discussion because of its seemingly "magical" healing properties. It only makes sense (after a bit of research) that one would use CO on their face to help treat blemishes and acne, or simply to make their skin look and feel better.

As quoted in The Oil That Heals by Dr. McGarey, a country doctor (unknown?) states, "Castor oil will leave the body in better condition than it found it."

The Routine:
Massage a substantial amount (the cup of your palm, while hand is held open) of EVOO/CO into your face and neck.

This is to be done over makeup or any visible dirt. Take this time to give yourself a facial massage. Really work the oil into your skin. Take your time, breathe deeply, and relax. Sit down to do this if it helps.

You, of course, do not have to sit and relax, but keep in mind that stress isn't good for your skin and you should take any moment you can to destress and let tension float away.
Take a washcloth, terry cloth or flannel preferred, and soak it in steamy hot water. Wring it out and drape it over your face.

What we are doing is steaming your face as an esthetician would, but without the steam machine. You want to open your pores. This helps release any impurities from deep within your pores.
As the washcloth begins to cool, gently wipe the oil and dirt away. This will also help remove any dead skin cells that are stubbornly clinging on.
Rinse the washcloth out in hot water and wipe away any remaining impurities. You may have to do this two or three times more to remove any remaining dirt and oil residue, but it will come off leaving your skin with a beautiful, healthy glow. No additional cleansing is necessary.
After you have rinsed well, you can either splash your face with cool water to help tone and close your pores, or if your face feels tight, you can moisturize.
If your skin feels tight, take a tiny drop of your EVOO/CO, rub it between your clean, damp palms and pat it into your damp skin. Massage any oil residue into your skin so there is no film of oil left sitting on the surface. Being prone to breakouts, myself, I've found that this is perhaps the most important step.
Your skin should glow now.

Within two times of doing this, my skin looked completely different. Usually I apply a little oil on my face at the end.

Louise

The above is the daily method, but once a week try actually doing the steam. When I said I wished my washcloth would stay hot longer Louise suggested doing the steam. It's a bit more time consuming & she does it once a week, which is what I plan to do.

The Steam Method:
  1. Heat up a large bowl of water (boiling or slightly below).
  2. Put oil on face, massage in.
  3. Get a towel, and drape it over your head.
  4. Steam your face over the bowl, under the towel for 3-5 mins.
  5. Apply more oil if needed, massage a little more.
  6. Rinse as usual.
You gotta kind of work it out so that the water is hot when you are ready for it. Sometimes I just stand there staring at the microwave with oil dripping onto my shirt. Other times most of the oil has soaked in by the time the water is ready......so you just have to use trial and error. I usually do this once a week.

Glad you like it!

Louise

FYI: Castor oil can be found at health food stores & in the pharmacy section of some grocery stores with the laxatives. (Nod to Beth ). Lavender essential oil can also be found at health food stores. It is optional added only for the scent. It's also nice to put a drop or two on your pillow or sheets.

Louise mixes 1 cup at a time & keeps it in a 20 oz, water bottle. I happened to have an old 8 oz. water bottle like they give you on the airlines & I used that.

Louise uses this in the evenings only because if it gets in your hair it will make it greasy. I've been doing it evening & morning both since I usually wash my hair in the morning anyway.

Deb's Results: I've been using this twice a day since Friday evening, May 7. A little over a week. After 1 use, the little blackheads on my nose appeared to be gone. I suppose there might have been 1-2 but I couldn't find them! They haven't come back either! My skin has this dewy, glowy look! Very cool! It was smoother. All those things are reason enough to try this but what totally blew me away is how it decreases lines/wrinkles!!! I swear they are getting smaller & less noticable by the day!

I really am extremely impressed with this & think everyone should give it a try. I mixed up a tiny bit first to see if I liked it but now I am mixing 1 cup at a time. It will last quite a while. I have combination skin & use a 50/50 mix of CO & EVOO with a few drops of lavendar oil for scent.

Enjoy!

Hey! I'll have you know that I take a secret herb that stops snoring and makes me breathe the smell of baking cookies into the air. That's why you both kept waking up and wanting one of Becca's yummy cookies! Only sweetness and light come from me. :flower3:

Yeah-does your face feel greasy? We need details hag! I'm worried that I would go outside into the 110 degree heat and my face would look like something you'd wanna fry an egg on! :teeth:

No, it didn't feel greasy after I washed it off with the hot wash cloth. My skin felt a little dry, actually. That's why you have to put a few drops more of the oil mixture on your skin afterward and leave it on for the day. I think I will also add a sunscreen on top of that, cause I have a buttload of sun damage and don't need anymore!

You have sweet breath, eh? Kinda like Edward Cullen. Are you two related? You do seem to have vampiristic tendencies. Hey! I'll be those weren't a pair of mosquito bites on my neck in chicago then, either? They were FANG marks! You made your move, didn't you?

Have you felt like going hunting lately? Or have you been really "thirsty"?

You lost me at the first EVOO. I feel like I'm reading Rachel Ray's 30 min. meals. Cliff notes please.
Oh my first boyfriend was David.

Dictophones did away with stenos. Foot operated listening devices.

Last but not least will WD-40 work? Heavier oil, heavy duty cleaning job:confused3

EVOO, is Extra Virgin Olive Oil. CO--Castor oil. Psh, I thought EVERYONE knew THAT! ;) :rotfl2:

Hi everybody!

I see we almost got a new boyfriend, but you hags have scared him off already. :sad2:

Bonnie.....you must refrain from burping and farting until a new member has posted ast least 5 times....then it is business as usual;)

Wilma......please post something soon. We are all worried about you.

Judi~ ...that's all I got for now because I just don't know what to say. I am praying for you and yours daily.

Hi Angie~ Joey has been lots better since our scare. He has slept way later than normal the past couple of days so I have been on pins and needles waiting for him to get up. Infact, yesterday I actually woke him up to be sure he was ok. I am just a tiny (alot)bit paranoid now. The doctor said the bloodwork they did the other day all came back normal and that if it happens again to take him to Texas Children's Hospital. She said to tell them we are worried about him having a metobolic disorder so they would know what type of bloodwork to do to test him. She doesn't reallythink he has anything wrong, she jsut wants to make sure....especially if he does this again.

Hi Julie.....glad you liked the picture of Joey marking his territory:laughing:

You have sweet breath, eh? Kinda like Edward Cullen. Are you two related? You do seem to have vampiristic tendencies. Hey! I'll be those weren't a pair of mosquito bites on my neck in chicago then, either? They were FANG marks! You made your move, didn't you?

Your pillow wall didn't work to keep vampires away. Now you'll become a hard, cold marble slab yourself. At least no one will mess with you!:goodvibes

I'm going to let you oil clean your face for a few weeks before I decide to try it or not.

Hi Gang of Sassies!!!

RELLA!!!!! How are you???? Good to hear from you!

Judi, sorry to hear about your ruff night and morning. I sure hope it is going better this afternoon.

Becca, yes our bed is a full wave California King. I love the size. We don't have to touch each other if we don't want to! ;) The full wave is very comfortable for me, but MrJulie is starting to complain about his shoulder or something hurting him when he gets up. But I don't see how that can be the bed's fault. What is he doing with it??? :confused3 It does help to have him there, because we keep each other "afloat" -- otherwise, we sink further in. :goodvibes In the winter is the best, as it is HEATED. :cloud9:

Hey Angie! My degree is a Masters in Library & Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh. The key is just to make sure the program you would enroll in was an "ALA Accredited" program. That is usually a job requirement. There are some good distance ed library programs out there too that only require a couple of weekend visits per semester. Mine was only 36 credits and that is usually the case for a Masters in Library Science.

Hang in there, Wilma. Hope you are up to posting soon. We miss you. :grouphug:

I was reading the pimple thread which was kinda funny until I saw this (put down your food and swallow first if you are eating):

THAT IS ABSOLUTELY THE MOST DISGUSTING THING I HAVE EVER SEEN!  :scared1: :scared1:  :scared1:
This is a good case of why we DON'T need photoshop!! Honestly, I'm gonna heave...

Man I would LOOOOVE to pop that thing. Zit-popping is my specialty. I don't get zits anymore, and I'm glad, but it's kinda fun when they squirt out onto the mirror. I might need to check out that thread!!
