Sars

Is anybody cancelling their trip to DW or anywhere because of their fear of Sars? I am kind of nervous to travel on a plane and be in large crowds of people from all over the world. I know that my DH is not afraid but I am. How about you? We have to travel through the Toronto airport to get to DW. Toronto has had 4 deaths from Sars and has 100 reported cases of sars.

Personally ddawg, I am not very worried. But who knows? Could be that good ole "stick my head in the sand mentality." And I am not doing any travelling at all.

If I had to fly thru Toronto, I'd be concerned, too.

Is switching airports an option? At the very least, I think I'd get a mask to wear in the airport/plane.

There are 3 reported cases of this virus in Minnesota so far. There may be more cases, but testing restults are still out.

Last night the Mpls news reported a sick baby on a Northwest flight from Asia to Mpls that was thought to have this virus.


My son's best friend is studying at Hong Kong University this year as an exchange student from Mn. He may be coming home soon. The U is closed this week.

If it was me, I would definetely get a several masks. One for the trip down, and one for the trip back. Who cares if you look silly? I wear a mask at work, (I work in surgery) and you get used to it. I would simply go to your md office, and ask. And ask them to show you how to properly wear it, because it should be snug to your face, Some people have it loose, around the corners. Now that is what I would do, because I am used to it, however great care has to come when you wear a mask. Because some people have a hard time wearing them, and could get faint.
