I have never stayed at this resort and I was wondering how people responded to it. I can't wait to go!!!

We enjoyed it. We have stayed twice. It is beautiful and peaceful. The walk to DTD is short, at least from Congress Park and so is the walk to the main pool. Our children loved the splashing water play area and the staff was great.

Love it. Suprisingly quiet. Beautiful rooms. Great pool, great food. Thumbs up all around.

Here's the kids area of the lobby.

tinkbutt...Welcome to the DIS:)

SSR is lovely! A sprawling resort, great pools...a place to relax. A quick ferry boat ride to DTD or OKW......
There is info on the DVC forums and more photos at allears.net!

Beautiful resort! We stayed there last May and really enjoyed it. We enjoy nightly walks as a way to 'wind down' so the walks to DTD were great.

This was taken from our balcony as the sun was coming up.

The little courtyard that was behind our room. Saw lots of rabbits and ducks out there each morning.

I love hearing those great reviews..... we just booked it for september.

Its my favorite resort! Being so close to DTD is nice in a couple of ways. First all the dining and shopping are a short boat ride or walk away from your room. That also means that if you don't have a car and want to dine at other WDW resorts, you can easily get over to the bus stop area of DTD and get to where you want to be very easily. This resort is also centrally located, you are not far from anything. And we have found the bus service to be excellent during our stays.

SSR has lovely grounds that are so worth exploring and enjoying. It also has the best counter service restaurant on WDW in my opinion. Artist's Palette is such a cut above most other cs places. They have wonderful sandwiches, salads, flatbread pizzas and a very nice little bakery. The main pool is zero entry and has a great slide for older kids and adults and a smaller slide and splash area for younger kids. There is also the newest pool over at the Grand Stand section which has these very fun spray cannon type things and another bar for the adults. Its a short walk from the main pool which is nice. And there are several other quiet pools, all that have hot tubs and laundry rooms (that are free to use) attached to them.

The resort is large however there are shortcut paths all over the place and you can always hop on a bus to take you to another area. When we have stayed there, several times bellmen in a golf cart have told us to hop aboard for a quick ride to the main area. But I actualy enjoy the walk and even when I have stayed at one of the more distant areas have never found a walk to be more than 5-7 minutes to the main area.

I think you will love SSR, its newer rooms/units are so nicely furnished, each one has a lovely view of something (golf course, pool, DTD, open area, fountain, lake) and the cm's are all very nice and accomodating.

Hiya, I'm currently planning a holiday for 2009 and the party I'm travelling with are having some debate about whether to stay at Old Key West or Saratoga Springs. I've stayed at Old Key West and know they have good sized villas but have heard Saratoga Springs is a much smarter and fresher resort. Can anyone give any advice? I also have heard complaints about the bus waiting times from Saratoga Springs is this true?
Thanks

I have stayed at both. They are similar in that they are both in the same general location and both have a spread out feel. The theming is totally different, if you prefer tropical, OKW is the better bet. SSR rooms are newer and very "fresh" as your friend said. However, our one bedroom unit at OKW was in excellent condition. The grounds were lovely. I like the main pool at SSR more, the zero entry thing is nice and I also like the dining options at SSR more. However, OKW is very laid back, the units are larger, the balconies are larger and its just a really lovely resort. Many of the buildings do not have elevators however which can be a factor for some people. All SSR buildings have elevators. OKW studios always have two queen beds, SSR studios have a queen bed and a sofa sleeper. Some people have preferences for two beds, not one bed and a sofa sleeper.

I have had wonderful luck with the buses at SSR, never one problem. The buses at OKW were fine too, but it does take awhile for them to go around that resort! We'd pull in and sometimes be the last stop and it just seemed to take awhile. Didn't notice that so much at SSR even though it is also a spread out resort.

You can't make a bad choice!
