Saratoga Springs-Room Suggestion Pls

There is parking outside of all of the buildings; so you wouldn't be too far from your room. We just stayed in the Paddock area in one of the buildings next to the Paddock pool. It was a great location in that we were near a bus stop and by the pool. The Paddock grill was also quite good, so having easy food close was also a bonus.
From reading here, it seems many like the Paddock Pool and Grill. The menu at the Paddock Grill also seems more extensive than the grill at the High Rocks Spring Pool in the Springs neighborhood.
How far of a walk is it from Paddock to the other feature pool in Springs and the Carrriage house? We will have 2 grands (10, 7) with us in our party and what is manageable for us (walkers) may not be for them.
Also, what requests are best to pick on reservations if wanting a room by the Paddock Pool area?

High Rock is more limited as its very close to artist palette to get other stuff and just bring back to the pool.

Its not a long walk but it is a decent distance. Depends on walking speed but 5-10 min. Its nice, has a large chunk that is over a bridge across a lake. You can also use the park buses as an internal loop if you don't want to walk, just get on the next bus that comes, it'll go to congress park and then to the Springs.

Yes Paddock pool has a bigger menu because the High Rocks pool is right next to the main quick service restaurant for SSR. The two pools are about 1,000 feet apart. Paddock pool is also very close for 2 of the Springs buildings.

I generally request "near pool, upper floor." That tends to eliminate carousel, and puts you eitehr in Grandstand in one of the buildings closer to the pool, or Paddock close to the walking path across the pond. Both are easy walks to the central resort services.
So requesting “near pool, upper floor” is the best option for trying to get placed in Paddock? I know you can’t specifically request a neighborhood.

Not exactly. It could be either Grandstand or Paddock. But it won't be Carousel.

I've always ended up in Paddock when I make this request, but that is probably coincidence.

I used Touring Plans to request my room. I gave a range of rooms in the buildings on both sides of the Paddock Pool and got one in the building but on the first floor. I really prefer upper floors, but we still had a nice room.

That is helpful to know that has always worked for you.

Will Touring Plans request override what’s put in as initial request when making the reservation?

If you are a DVC member, you can request a specific section, we did 3 studios and requested Paddock and had noted travel together, were all in the same building in Paddock next to the pool and bus stop.

Did it via the chat.

If you have a TouringPlans subscription, they will send the room request about 30 days out.

From what I have read, whatever the most recent request sent will be what they try to accommodate. Which is why, if you have made a request with TouringPlans or via chat or phone, you shouldn't add anything when you check in online. The room request info, I believe, is made in the notes to the reservation.

I don’t think I’m making myself clear. I do not believe that request will always result in the Paddock.
No, I understand that it has worked for you but that doesn’t guarantee you can get it. Thanks for your input.

Haven’t made the reservation yet.
Ok, it's separate from making the reservation unless you are doing it over the phone or by chat. If phone or chat then you can have the CM make a note on your reservation at that time. You can also do it that way later on too if you want. If using TP then just fill out the request using their room finder more than 30 days in advanced. The request will be emailed 30 days out. You can do it closer to your travel time, but do it at least 7 days (10 would be better) out as that's around the time the room assignments get done.

I frequently stay at Saratoga, and about 90% of the time I reserve Preferred, as I pretty much always want Congress Park - being a Floridian and having a pool in my yard and ocean 1 mile away, I never use the pools during Disney trips, so that's never a draw. I like walking access to Disney Springs for the food, bars, and music. The handful of times I've stayed in a Standard, I did Grandstand twice and Paddock 5 times - every time I got Paddock, I requested at the front desk to get building 12 - it's the one that most people staying in Paddock like the least because it's farthest from the pool. For me, the benefit is that it's closest to Congress Park - so for walking to Disney Springs, it's just 50-100 feet farther away, and I even walk over to the Congress Park bus stop which is closer than the Paddock one from that building. At Grandstand I like buildings 15 & 16, as they're closest to the walkway to the main building, and boat dock, and the bridge to walk to Disney Springs West Side.
