If it is due to open in the spring of 2004, when will ressie start for DVC members? My guess would be that the point chart would come out soon and all current members could make ressie in the 7 month window.

Nobody knows when - Spring 2004 is all we have been hearing about. But you are most likely right about the 7 month window as that's what happened when BCV opened I believe.

I wonder if only a part of it would be completed at that point? All I know is I stayed at Coronado Springs for the grand opening and it was disappointing looking out across the lake at the two other sections still under construction. Didn't make a pretty picture.

The portion presently under construction appears to consist of four buildings- all on the property across the lake from DD.

If other phases are built, it appears they will be across the road where the old bungalows were situated. That construction area can easily be cordoned off to minimize any inconvenience or visual distraction to guests or visitors.

"If other phases are built, it appears they will be across the road where the old bungalows were situated."

Across the road? Is this a large road? So it might be hard to walk to the themed pool if you were staying in a building there then? (This being if they added new phases.)
I wonder how many rooms the four buildings now hold? Is it comparable to any of the other villas? I woudl think they would continue with more phases as BWV, VWL and BCV use a shared theme pool. It woudl seem a larger themed pool for only four buildings woudl eb a larger expense.

I thought FL timeshares couldn't do that?

Isn't there some law requiring FL timeshares to be ?% complete BEFORE they can start selling and taking res.? I thought that was what happened at BCV.

Maybe because of the size they are allowed to open it in phases? Did they do this at OKW?

How hard do you think walking to the pool will be? I guess I won't decide to axe my idea of staying there purely based on having to walk to the pool. I stayed at the far end of BCV just last weekend and had to walk all the way to SAB. It took all of 5 minutes. I guess I can't get all that worked up about walking to the pool.

Well... if it is across 4 lanes of fast moving traffic, yeah that would be of some concern to me. If it is just a small 2 lane road going into the resort, then no.

I guess we need to know what kind of "road" we are talking about. Is it a road like the ones that wind thru OKW? If so, that probably would be safe. I didn't think that there were any 4 lane roads up where SSR was being built, but I'll be the first to admit that I don't know the floorplan of that resort at all. I only thought there was the one road in and out of there.

I remember 2 weeks ago, before Disney security chased us out, that there were many little brick/cobblestone type roads. They were wide enough for 2 cars to pass, but not much wider.

Simba's Mom - were they the roads that would wind to different resort buildings, do you think? Kind of like how OKW is laid out? Or do you feel the layout is something completely different?

The theme pool is presently being built in front of the buildings now under construction. The bungalows were across the road (a normal 2 lane street), some about 50 yards from the location of the pool being built, some 200 yards away. I assume that there will be quiet pools near other phases in addition to the themed pool- just like at OKW, BWV, BCV and VWL.

The brick roads were part of the DI and will likely be maintained with SSR. These are similar to the roads inside OKW.

The buildings now under construction are much larger than any of the OKW buildings- more along the lines of a wing at BWV or BCV. They will be 4 stories.

OKW was planned and built in 4 phases. (Buildings 1-30, Turtle Pond area, South Point area and 62-64.) Early sales began before Phase I was completed- many here have reported taking a tour in hardhats. Even buildings 62-64 at OKW were part of the original phased plan.

The original press release put out by DVC listed the project as a 180+ room facility. Now the official DVC web site lists Saratoga Springs as being over 580 rooms. If they do indeed open in Spring 2004, they would definately have to phase in sections.

Back to the original question.....

When I first sat down in March 2002 to meet with my guide to discuss my Beach Club Villas purchase, he told me they had just started taking reservations that Monday. This was around the second week of March 2002. Beach Club Villas opened July 1, 2002. If my math is correct, that's about 4-months before the opening date. :earseek:

They could start taking reservations any time they want...but let's say they use the 4-month formula again. That means if they open around April 1st, look for reservation taking to begin around mid-December. If they open in May, maybe around mid-January. But like anything else, pure guessing on my part. :bounce:

So maybe at first they would take anyone's ressies, if they start taking ressies 4 months before opening, clearly within the 7 month window, but I am sure the 7 month window would still apply as time went on.
