Saratoga Springs sales are open . . .

Term of use is until 2054.
Price per point is $89 less either $10pp or developer points award.
Opening scheduled for 5/1/04 with reservations beginning 12/1/03.
Point cost currently estimated to be $3.80.

You missed out an option/section for, the points price is reasonable, but I don't need any more points.

Sorry, Vernon . . . I didn't think anyone had enough points. (I'll ask the moderator to add an option.)

I voted maybe. It's not that I need more details, it's more that I'm am not sure if I need more points. If I do need more, I am sure I would enjoy SSR...

Maistre Gracey,

You say that you think you would enjoy SSR.

Could you tell me/us why you think that?

I am interested in your opinion. We own at the same resorts and I am curious about your views on SSR.

Thanks:D

I've been intrigued by the artist renderings and descpition of the theme pool at SSR. I perosnally love zero depth entry pools and the fountains and slide they descibe sound liek fun. I'm big on the pool factor. I love AKl's pool and I have been there twice, and woudl go a million times again if I could. And AKL was liek a million miles away from the MK. Wonder how the distnace compares to SSR and MK?

Someone has a map of SSR on another thread. I believe it is a transportation map.

SSR looks REALLY far from MK.

Maybe someone can link you to the thread.

I answered yes. My fiancee and I have been wanting to buy into DVC but had been waiting. The additonal years with SSR is a major selling pt to us. We are 25/26 and owning for 50 years is great. I love BC's location and decor but I had a really nice visit at Old Key West. OKW was so beautiful and peaceful. I think it was my most relaxing trip yet. Since we won't be traveling in the peak times, we will be able to try other resorts until 2042. Overall, I am really happy about the prospect and can't wait for a call from DVC.

Keep smiling :)

Hi, floridafam. As of right now we don't have any kids (we are trying), so my wife and I are big DD/Pleasure Island fans. That coupled with the intriguing architecture & landscaping from the artist's renderings make it interesting.

***BUT!!! The biggest reason is we would like to have the 11 month window at a resort with grand villas.

We are still not sure if we will buy at SSR, but we will take a good look when we are there in October.

One advantage of SSR would be that a person could get to any other resort by walking the short distance to DD and catching a resort bus.

That's true. It is always a pain to get to another resort for dinners...
Wonder if they'll check IDs for the pool, though. Anyone suspect peopel will coem over from the DTD hotles to use SSR's pool?

I was told that they open 8/3? No? MB mean money back? And. what's the developers bonus?

*The first of the 12 buildings is scheduled tp open 5/1/04. [Perhaps the 8/3 date was the date sales were to begin.]
*MB stands for Magical Beginnings and it is money back in a way. If you choose to buy using MB, your point charge is decreased by $10 in exchange for your first year (2003) points. MB may be different for other resorts.
[CORRECTION: The SSR offer of a $10 credit per point is not being called MB. It is a credit currently being offered to new SSR buyers.]
*You can opt for the developer point bonus instead of MB. It is an extra amount of points (depending on the number of SSR points you buy) that must be used by 4/30/04, so they would have to be used at any property except SSR.

Here is the info I got from my guide (to be..)

Sale starts on 8/3 at $89/point.
During this time you can choose $10 off or points that have to be used before the resort opens. Either way, your points will be in your account for use when the resort opens in May 2004. Booking begins for resort owners in December. Maintance fees don't begin till May and if you finance through them, payments don't begin till April.

A point chart is being mailed to me so I can make up my mind how many pts to buy. Needless to say I am in!

Keep smiling :)

OK -- something I need clarified as I keep reading people saying different things. Is the $10 off really MB? Could I have points for the 2003-2004 season, banked for when the resort opens? Or is the $10 off just the pre-sale offer?

I voted no becuase if we bought more points it would be either OKW or BCV resale. The extra years are not important for us.

But we will certainly stay there. The theming sounds interesting. We used to live in Syracuse NY so upstate NY is another home for us.

I was told that the $10 was a "credit" and not MB because you technically aren't selling back your first year's points.

We are probably going to do SSR because my DH said it would be nice to have a mix of contracts that expire in 2042 and 2054. I suppose he makes a good point.

We also agree with Maistre Gracey about having a resort that has GV's at the 11 month window.

So, it looks like SSR it is.

The 2054 ending date is nice. We'll have 2 resorts that expire in 2042 and 1 that expires in 2054. A nice balance, I suppose.

lenshanem,

What are you going to do?

I guess it depends on your use year. I have a June use year and if I bought SSR now using the $10 discount I would not receive any SSR 2003 points. I would receive SSR 2004 points on 6/1/04. So, in this case, it's the same as using MB at BCV or BWV (giving up 2003 points.) Right?

They probably won't START selling a June U/Y. And if you wanted June it would still be a credit, because the resort hasn't opened for you to "sell back" your first year.
