We shall be spending 1 week in Kissimmee next summer and want to spend the second week at the beach. At the moment we have a choice of accommodation in Sarasota or Indian Shores.
Can anyone advise me about either place?
We shall be travelling with our 3 children - ages 19, 15 and almost 5 - so I'm anxioust to chose the beach least likely to drive everyone mad!
Please help! Any advise would be welcolmed. It may be that neither area would be suitable.
Thanks.

Haven't been to either but have been told that Indian Shores isn't well suited for children due to rocks etc. Only have been told this , don't know it for sure. Anyone else know anything about this? My sister just left Sarasota and loved it. Said it has a "family feel" to it. She liked Treasure Island even better though. Good Luck!!

Thankyou.
I think I'll take your word about the beach.
We have friends in Orlando who love the area around Sarasota so I think we will go there and they will come with us.
We live in the UK so it is difficult to check out!!

How long does it take to travel from Kissimmee to Sarasota?

Can't help you with distance between Kissimmee and Sarasota but I bet someone else on this board could. Anyone????

Kissimmee to Sarasota is approx 120 miles.

Indian Shores - the beach is fine. I think people are getting confused bu Indian Shores neighbour ...a place called Indian Rocks. The beach here is great as well !

We very often take a weekend break down on Indian Rocks/Shores and our kids love it. There are some great restaurants and we always have a great time.

Sarasota is another nice area and whilst we don't frequent it as often (basically if you are going for beach - why go the extra 45 miles) we enjoy ourselves there as well !

We've been to Longboat Key in Sarasota and loved it! The sand is simply stunning with beautiful clear water! We're actually trying to get back there for next March for 1 week.:)

Sorry I can't help you with Indian Shores as we've never been there but good luck and enjoy your stay in whichever area you decide! :sunny:
