Sarah's Moving 2 AFRICA! The trip planned in 4 days! * THREE parks in ONE day! 5/10

We all get in touch with our inner Grumpy at times... sounds like he didn't stay very long, though! :thumbsup2

Hope Lisa is hanging in there!

Kathy

Lisa is hanging in there! She is using her crutches and a wheelchair occasionally. We have folks now in the mix to help with Lauren, so that is good. Maybe this will be a good thing, overall. Two years ago, when Rick had to go to Mayo Clinic for 10 days, we had lots of people come and help with Lauren and William.

The folks that came figured out quick that there was a lot more to helping Lauren than they ever realized. And those same people are coming over now, two years later, and realizing there is even more now with the volume of homework and extra curricular activities of a high school student. SO...maybe it is a good thing to raise some awareness to a few people outside of the normal circle of people that help out.

Two years ago, Lisa was amazed that people continued to help even after they got back (including me) because we all realized how much she had to do and know that one person (or even two) can't handle all of that on their own. So maybe we will get a new "crop" of people that will help on more of a long term basis.

thanks for the update!:thumbsup2

Grumpy Butt:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

You enjoyed that, huh. Hmph.

:)

You know what?

Regardless of whether or not we actually see a Grumpy Butt on the trip, it's for certain that one or all members of your party will turn into one at some point.

And oddly enough, for me, it usually happens in the World Showcase.

Go figure! :lmao:

Yeah...I really liked that we actually SAW a Grumpy Butt. And we actually saw it in the "right" order...I saw it right before all of that happened. :rotfl:

Do you think it is the massive amount of walking? The shopping? The lack of shade? The good smelling food that we eat too much of? What is it about that World Showcase that makes us grumpy? :)

If I had to pyscho-analyze myself...which by the by, I am excellent at, I would have to say for me, it's a combination of things.

One, trying to do the World Showcase in one day while seeing everything / eating everything / drinking everything you really want to is virtually impossible. And yet for some reason, I continue to try to do it. :lmao:

It's also the lack of shade when walking. There are very few shaded areas, and although I can veer toward those, that boiling Florida sun on my very Irish skin makes for an extremely dehydrated and close to burnt TK if I'm not careful. So I really have to make sure I'm drinking enough water (or margaritas, you know ;) ) and that I stop to reapply sunblock. I actually had to do this on our last trip, and it was the funniest thing. I sat my grumpy butt right down on a bench just outside of Italy, and started slathering myself with sunblock while the boys ran around the courtyard. Took some sips of water, dabbed some pressed powder on my face, donned some fresh lip gloss and I felt like a whole new gal! I can't tell you some of the looks I got doing makeup on that bench, but I didn't care, I felt better. And I am so not girly girl really, but when you're dripping with sweat and you slather on greasy sunblock. Well, ew. :lmao: I mean, prior to my little break on that bench, I was getting nauseous.

It's weird, isn't it? I thought it was just me, but I guess not!

Maroo, just realized I had started reading your trip report half way through. Just went back and read it from the start. Loved your description of GKTW!!! Oh how I miss that place!!

Wonderful that people are helping. Sometimes we need reminders of what others are going through.

Yea, you wouldn't want to be around me sometimes. Also, loved the pic.
I kept looking at it wondering what it was.

Probably all the over stimulation. Trying to take in soooooo much, but I keep trying also.

We eventually began to head out of Epcot. I was wishing I had NOT enjoyed that coke float…as my tummy was not happy with that decision :rolleyes1. We were close to the exit when Amy’s son called her. He was right beside Spaceship Earth! :thumbsup2

I opted to sit on the bench while they ran back there to say hello!
As I was sitting on this bench, I took this picture…it was so beautiful outside! Not a cloud in the sky.

SarahDWTrip538.jpg

Then I started thinking about how nice it would be to just stretch out and take a nap. Right there on that bench! But I would look so stupid. :sad2: So, I waited.

And after a little while I took this picture…

SarahDWTrip540.jpg

And waited. Then it occurred to me that I would never see all these people again. :confused3 So, I stretched right out on that bench and actually shut my eyes for a few minutes. :cloud9:

And then I wondered where they were? Could they not find me? Was I lost? So I stood up and walked around a few minutes to make sure they weren’t standing somewhere nearby. Nope. ;)

Then I took another picture…

SarahDWTrip544.jpg

And rested on the bench again. Stretched right out! :rotfl: I highly recommend this to anyone as a leisurely activity at Epcot. I felt like I was being plugged in and recharged! :thumbsup2

Eventually Amy and Sarah came back. And, just for fun, I took this picture…

:rotfl:

Hilarious.

Again. Before and After...

We decided to take a ride on the Ferry rather than the monorail for the trip back to the Magic Kingdom. I had never been on the Ferry! It was pretty cool. Also pretty cold! Brrr!

SarahDWTrip547.jpg

Our first stop was to pick up our jackets from our locker. The Magic Kingdom was quite crowded. To give you an idea of crowded. It was a “double Specrto” night. :crowded: We decided to watch the second Specrto parade, so we went to catch a couple of rides as we waited for Wishes to start!

Our first stop was to the Laugh Floor. It was here that I met a fellow DISer! And I even remember her user name!

Hello, court4short! :wave2: She even subscribed (and posts :thumbsup2) to this report! Cool, huh! ::yes:: I enjoy this attraction. Mike Z always makes me laugh!

I was hungry by this time, so Sarah and I headed to Casey’s to pick up some hot dogs. We waited in line for quite some time! We grabbed dinner for all of us and waded our way through the massive crowds to a table Amy was saving us over at Spoodles (which was closed). We barely had time to swallow our dinner before Wishes began!

We walked a few feet over to see Tinkerbell fly and then made our way over to the Tomorrowland Bridge to watch the rest of Wishes. :cloud9: It was magical. But not quite as magical tonight as it was last night.

There were people EVERYWHERE and no room to even walk. In the middle of Wishes there were several families trying to make their way across the park. Across the Tomorrowland Bridge. “Excuse me. Excuse us.” Off to the next thing. Or to beat the crowds out of the park. They were dragging poor kids around. Those kids, over and over, asked their parents to let the watch the fireworks. “Please Mommy?” And over and over the various parents told their kids that they “did not have time” or “we need to go this way”…:sad1:

How sad. Just a symptom of a society that moves way to fast these days. Goodness. Stop and smell the roses. Stop and watch the fireworks.

Wishes. :cloud9:

We sat around the Tomorrowland Bridge for a little while and just watched the mass exodus of people. I was so thankful that I was not IN that mass of people. Wow.

Next Up: Spectro!!

You crack me up. Are you sure you are an artist and not a certified shrink? :confused3

You are so funny! I decided I didnt care what the people at Epcot thought of me, either! Taking a nap on the bench. :rotfl:

I don't know how you stay on top of writing and reading so many threads! I meant the September PTR.

I don't! I do try...really hard...but I just can't keep up. And I am starting another...soon. Maybe 2 or 3...:confused3

Maroo, just realized I had started reading your trip report half way through. Just went back and read it from the start. Loved your description of GKTW!!! Oh how I miss that place!!

Aw...I remember writing that. What a wonderful day I spent with you guys!

I am so, so sorry that Noah is in the hospital - again - over a holiday!

Wonderful that people are helping. Sometimes we need reminders of what others are going through.

Yea, you wouldn't want to be around me sometimes. Also, loved the pic.
I kept looking at it wondering what it was.

This is so true!

Ha ha! You guys really didn't know it was a Grumpy Butt? :lmao:

Loved the shirts you made!!! :thumbsup2

Did you notice that the light reflections on Spaceship Earth make a Star of David? Just thought maybe there would be one of your readers who would appreciate that. I thought it was interesting!

Don't you just love Caseys? It's on my Must Do list for next time!

Yep, there should definitely be more "stop and watch the fireworks" moments in life, shouldn't there??!! Good observation.

I had not noticed that!! Very cool! :thumbsup2

I do love me a Casey's hot dog! :) It is the only time during the year (or a few times a year, I suppose) that I will actually eat a hot dog! :)

I have to tell you guys something funny.

I went to church yesterday (Saturday) for a band rehearsal and our sound tech had a Grumpy T-Shirt on. Turns out his nickname is Grumpy and people at his "real" job call him Grumpy. Which made me laugh.

I want to wish you all a Happy Easter. It has been a wonderful day for me so far and I hope you guys are all having a great day, too! He is RISEN!

Sarah was mad because she wanted to ride the teacups...all she wanted to do was ride the teacups....she rode the HORRID space mountain (which she liked once it stopped but will never ride again) and no one would ride the tea cups. It was her party so she could cry if she wanted to...and get over it in them same panties.:snooty:

SARAH's back!!!!!! YEAH!!! :thumbsup2

You are gonna get yourself kicked off the DIS and you have only posted twice. :lmao:

Sarah is referring to Day 1, when she was mad at me over the whole schedule thing.

Gosh...I forgot you wanted to ride the teacups. I sorta refused to ride the teacups since I was feeling so nauseous. :( How sad. I forgot about all of that... :( :( :(

Until I finally pushed her hand away and said, “STOP!” I was pretty harsh. She was pretty annoying. Sarah walked off…really mad. :headache: She left Amy and me standing there. (Awkward)
In Sarah's defense...her broken foot hurt really bad and she didn't know how to tell Amy and Mary...it was a frustrating afternoon...

Ok, just so you DISers know the rest of the story...I am not typically the kind of person that reads signs directing traffic and takes them literally...it was just that there were so many specific orders already that morning. Yes....I got angry the first day because I selfishly wanted to ride the teacups. I had pictured it my whole life...just like the commercial...HEY...its just a reason to go again I guess. The first day was really painful since I still have a broken foot and am only suppose to walk 20 minutes out of every hour...did I even wear my brace that day? I don't know but I can guarantee you that I contemplated getting a wheelchair on day two. I honestly think it was the World Showcase that pushed me over the edge...had it not been that boat ride in Mexico I might have sat down and cried. But it was worth it and it only got better. I love you both...Mary and Amy. Even if we have to go when we are old...we have to go again, together and kid free.:dance3:

Uh oh... Sarah speaks out. :rotfl2: :lmao:

You did not wear your brace! :) I can't believe you can't remember THAT. ;) No...and as I recall...you wouldn't rent an ECV or wheelchair either... :sad2:

And I had forgotten about that Mexico boat ride...ruh. I totally missed it on the TR! I left out a whole ride! :scared1:

Maroo, I hope you had a great Easter!

And I can't get over your "time lapse" photos of Epcot.

Is it weird that I'm proud of you for taking a nap? People do it all the time in the World, good for you!!! :lmao:

Stop and smell the roses. Stop and watch the fireworks.

Wishes. :cloud9:

Good advice! I'll remember this on our upcoming trip! :thumbsup2 We didn't do enough rose smelling last time. :sad2:

Great pictures of Spaceship Earth!

You didn't get to ride the teacups? :eek:not one time? :eek:oh man.
Poor Sarah. :sad2: and just because Maroo was a little quesy.
