Sanford?

We are thinking about another WDW trip in March '08.

I hate to fly so I LOVE direct flights. The only carrier that flies direct to Orlando from here is Allegiant Air which flies into Sanford. First I'm not sure about using a discount airline, and secondly I'm not too sure I want to fly into Sanford.

Any comments about Sanford?

(Anyone know anything about Allegient Air?)

We flew Allegiant last June and it was fine. They charge for snacks and drinks, but since we flew for $60 each way, I was fine with that! The airport in Sanford is very nice and easy to navigate. It was an easy drive to our condo in Kissimmee and to WDW. The cheapest way to get from Sanford to WDW is by renting a car. We got a good deal on a car about 3 weeks before we traveled. Rates go up and down a lot, though, so check often.

Our family flew Allegiant into St. Pete in April. We will fly into Sanford for the first time in August. We had no problems with the airline. It is no frills airline- but comfortable and no hassle. Allegiant flies into smaller airports- so there is not the crowd and traffic to deal with. That was a plus for our trip in April

When booking with Allegiant- they charge for many things that are considered "no charge" with traditional airlines.
Examples:
-Service charge per ticket to book online or phone. So, if you live close enough to your local airport purcahse your tickets at the ticket counter- you will save $7 per ticket.
-Assigned seats- You can choose your seat when you book your flight- however they will charge you around $10 each way- We do not pay for this-- on our flight very few did. Our family was seated together.
-BAg fee- they charge $2 (i think) per bag each way if you pay in advance- If you arrive at the airport with extra bags then the charge is ridiculos- like $10/bag ( i may have this wrong )
Food/drink- no free pop and pretzels- they offer snacks and beverages to purchase- a pretty good selection $2 for pop or water ( if i remember correctly)

So far we have been happy with Allegiant. We like the convenience of flying from our hometown, no charge to park at our airport, and the prices!!

I've heard good things about Sanford. Ask me in August!!

Thanks for the replies! Glad to know you've been happy with Allegient. I called and we can get a towncar from Sanford too so I wouldn't have to drive, our plane wouln't get in until 10pm. I think this might work - again, I really appreciate the responses!

We have used Allegiant into Sanford several times and will continue to do so. We love the direct flight and have always been happy with the airline and the airport.

Used them in May and had a great experience. Sanford is much easier to get around in than MCO. Going to fly them again July 8 and hopefully next May!
