Sandy in New Jersey

Yo! I have been helping those who are in need, so you don't have to go all out on me. My aunt is down south and we have been helping her and her neighbors. So DON'T go all nasty on me.

DId i ask for your OPINION? NO. I did not.
If you think I am taking this personally, YES i am. I have done more good for people in new jersey then you give me credit for, I donate and help out neighbors and what-not. So DON"T tell me TO stop complaining about something small. Yes I know other people have it far worse then I do, But I too am helping out.

Whine, whine, whine.

Nice post Holly!

We had to leave our WDW vacation two days early because of Sandy. I did not whine about it but I was thankful for so many reasons. You should look up that word and try to implement it.

I hope the OP is a bored 13 year old...that's the only way her posts even remotely make sense.
:confused3

She drove to the library rather than walk 2 blocks. She is definitely older than 13. Another poster said she is an unemployed college graduate.

Yo.

Reality check time and yes stop your whining and 5 year old temper tantrums. I call you know what on you helping people as your original post clearly indicates how you are so bored at home without HEAVEN FORBID... TV and the *my life is over* no internet.

Self centred me me me privilege will be the demise of our society....

We have been playing Disney Edition Monopoly since Tuesday... Getting pretty boring. Other then playing Monopoly I have just been sleeping. Nothing to do except sleep when the sun goes down at 5 o clock.

Just a little memory refresher for those who may have forgotten the first post in this thread...

Clearly the OP is very young and has lived a fairly "privileged" life. She doesn't comprehend the struggle. This is someone who commented on the gas situation in a pp but drove a few blocks instead of walking.

This doesn't justify her being insensitive, but obviously her family isn't teaching her any better either.

OP be thankful you have a home to stay in, thankful your family is there to play games with you, thankful you have a bed to sleep in, food to eat and a car to drive. Even thankful your neighborhood was so unscathed your local library is already up and running with Internet.

Well the houses on both "ends" of our street have power, there are 12 houses in the middle that have no power because the power company says there is no power outage detected. WHAT!!! Grr. I am at the local library and I am stressed out. i know it can be worse but I don't want to twiddle my thumbs any more. Can't go out because i dont' want to waste gas cuz gas is now a problem to get. i just hope all this settles down fast.

Yet you drive 2 blocks to the library. :confused3

*Edited because I put miles before instead of blocks.

OP your worries about running out of gas are frivilous. I have driven back and forth to work every day this week on one full tank-it goes a long way. The gas crisis (which is barely a crisis as there is no real shortage of gas) will ease up in a few days as more stations get power.
Go local, people need help all over our area. If you can't bring much needed supplies, or pitch in to clean up, then just lend a shoulder. Some people just want a shoulder to lean on and have a good cry.
I work with a woman who heard her neighbor screaming for help all night long, but flood waters prevented anyone from getting to her- the neighbor lost her life, my coworker lost her house, and is in complete shock. It kind of puts things in perspective crying with her.

Yo? :rotfl2: That alone tells me so much. :lmao:

And no, I don't believe for one minute that you are out there helping your neighbors and those who are in hurting and in need.

Yo. I am not being insensitive. I am sensitive towards the whole situation.
I know how it is for them. We have had many floods in our house. We aren't upper class we are on the low end of middle class. I have PTSD and have trouble with stuff mentally. I am also not using that "excuse" to comprehend my outlook on this storm. I do feel bad which is why I have been donating FOOD and $$ towards those who are down in South NJ.

We have been helping.
We have been giving ice out to other people who need it and flashlights.
Just cuz i don't get out there and move HUGE stuff doesn't mean I'm not helping.

Tree limbs are huge? I don't think so. :rotfl: Done it myself and have a daughter whose done it since she was about 5. I've seen photos of stacked wood for giveaway all over NJ. You don't have to "move HUGE stuff."

Honestly, you'd feel better mentally and physically if you move your body. Exercise is great for depression and your mental state. Helping others is the BEST thing you can for your OWN self.

We have an elderly (very spry, but he is in his 70s) neighbor across the street. We are in MA, and fortunately, were without power for only about 24 hours. He however had a tree bounce off his roof, and land on his deck, taking out one of the railings.

The 1st thing my 15 year old DS said on Wednesday morning was that he wanted to go help Mr. B. He texted 2 of his pals who live within walking distance, and the three boys cut all the small branches off the tree, cleared them away, cleared his deck as best they could, blocked off the ramp leading to the damaged deck, and then raked his leaves.

It kept them busy when they were out of school, but could have gone. Helped out a neighbor who really needed it, and are continuing to learn that it's really "NOT all about them".

Gosh, I've been thinking of what to say, I can't find the words to formulate what I'm thinking. I know you're an adult, but seriously? Stop sitting at a computer and go help those in need!

Sorry, I have a 13 yo & we lost power for a few days because of sandy. Trust me we'd have a come to Jesus moment if she ever sounded as spoiler as the op. I count my blessings that all we had was a power loss & a messy yard.
