Sandusky - trial

Yep, that's the guy. Kind of makes Baez look good, doesn't he? :scared:
Now that's a frightening thought. :scared:

Piers Morgan spoke with the attorney Karl Rominger and said that people have been raising eyebrows about Amedola's conduct over the last few days...that he seems to be taking a strangely frivolous view of what has been going on...laughing, joking, saying today that he'd have a heart attack if his client was acquitted. And what was all that about? Rominger replied that Amendola has just been working tirelessly...yada yada yada. He may appear frivolous on the surface, but he's worked this case harder than any attorney he's ever seen. In other words, Rominger hates to say it, but he agrees...Amendola is an ***. ::yes::

So much to say. Im glad its the trial is over for these brave kids that came out and testified. I so respect the courage it took to publically come out and tell their stories. I wish more people would/could do the same.

As for JS, well, he'll finally pay. This story is just so vile and disgusting. The scary part is that there are so many more of these monsters out there. It's a great day when you hear the word GUILTY, 45 times!

I really hope people can learn lessons from from this situation. All those that just ignored the obvious will have to figure out how to sleep at night. Its shameful that this was allowed, yes ALLOWED, to go on for the sake of a football program (and Im the biggest football fan their is). These people are just as guilty as JS.

Yeah, he was. :crazy2: Isn't he the guy who got a 16 yr old client pregnant when he was in his 40s, and then they got married? Or was that another lawyer?I think he did. Yeah, "pig" works for me.

Marcia Clark says, in her many years of experience, it's highly unlikely that this verdict would be reversed on appeal.

Sandusky will most likely not be put in the general population in prison. No surprise there.

Pity.

My dream (that I know will never happen) is that the Penn State football stadium is empty this season.

Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. I wish I could stand up and cheer that this monster if finally off the streets and going to be locked up and miserable for the rest of his disgusting life.

Yet all I seem to be able to do is let loose some tears for all those abused little boys.

Dottie Sandusky deserves her own brand of hell for letting this happen for all these years.

I've tried really hard to avoid all the news on this trial. It truly makes me physically ill. I did hear a radio news report yesterday on the child that called for help (she was in the house) and she didn't respond.

She should now be arrested and go to trial for her part in this. It only takes ONE PERSON to stop something like this and she didn't do it. Aiding and abetting a monster makes you pretty stinking monster like too.

ITA, she's every bit as much a monster for letting it happen but doing nothing to jeopardize her cushy life. How do you live with yourself being like that?

I think his punishment may be fittingly harsh after all. 23 hours a day, alone, isolated in a small cell. I don't know, but he kind of strikes me as the type who has difficulty sitting still and truly needs to be social. I wish him a long life with his thoughts.

In a way I agree. I think he's probably going to go a bit insane. However I think that it would be best to throw him in with the general public in prison. You know how much they "love" child molesters!!! I think he deserves for it to happen to him about 48 times! THEN he can be placed in solitary confinement!

Here's an update, from HLN, who interviewed one of his lawyers, Karl Rominger, this morning. (Not quoted verbatim...)

First, he said that JS didn't need handcuffs or to be held by force as he left the courthouse, because "that's Jerry Sandusky cooperating with the process" Wow...swell guy! What did they think he'd do, break free and run, and get caught by an angry mob who'd beat him to death? :confused3

Jean Casarez: Once he's sentenced, do we expect him to be in the general population?

Lawyer: PA will send him to a diagnostic facility, where he will be classified to determine where he will spend his time. Will probably be held in some sort of limited fashion there and not in general population until he's classified. Once he's classified, they'll most likely find him to be a sex offender (ya think??) and he'll be sent to one of the state prison sex offender facilities which means he'll be with people with similar sex charges.

Jean Casarez: What were his last words to Dottie?

Karl Rominger: Knew beforehand that goodbyes in the courthouse would not be allowed, so he said his goodbyes beforehand...prayed with the family, said goodbye to his dogs. For some people that might be a silly point and say who cares what Jerry Sandusky wanted to do. Dottie has been with him for over 40 years and loves him, truly. She's most concerned that Jerry suffers from a form of sleep apnea and uses a C-Pap and the last time he spent a night in prison, the prison wouldn't allow the C-Pap and he had to sleep sitting up. They're worried that the C-Pap won't be allowed in and he'll have to spend a lot of time sitting up or risk heart damage from the sleep apnea. (Um...not feeling much sympathy here.)

I can't see how one could do this to a little child I hope he burns for destroying all those kids lives...:sad2:

Or was it Beth Karas and not Jean Casarez? :confused3

I've been thinking this all along ~ she's just as guilty for allowing the abuse to go on. All those many years vulnerable little boys were in their basement being abused by her monster husband and she doesn't know anything :confused3!? Such a crock!?!?!

Awww poor baby, my heart bleeds ~
wonder if they ever gave any thought how those little boys slept after he sexually abused them :sad1:
Well, they'll both be in their own private hell thinking about it now!?!?! :rolleyes1

My dream (that I know will never happen) is that the Penn State football stadium is empty this season.

Why would you want to punish people who weren't even at the school and in many cases not even in the state at the time?

I'm all for going after anyone who had anything to do with the abuse, but I draw the line at punishing people who had nothing to do with it.

I agree.

More info...there was a counselor who spoke with the jurors afterward. I wonder the emotional damage done to them as well, being the ones basically forced to listen to the details of these horrid crimes, by the victims themselves. I don't know if I could do it. I'd be haunted for life.

Crimes are so far-reaching. Besides these direct victims...certainly the most important...their families, the school, the students, the jurors, other victims of other pedophiles, and other children if any of these MANY victims become perpetrators themselves. It's mind boggling.

And there are many. So many. That makes me sick.

Justice has been served...almost. If there is any real justice in the world, Jerry Sandusky will be put into the general prison population where he will walk amongst offenders who will regularly administer some "justice" of their own. JS needs to keep looking over his shoulder for the rest of his life. They're coming for you, you piece of trash!

HLN reported that if he isn't in a sex offender unit, he may be put in a geriatric unit. Other men in their 70's/80's are less likely to murder him than the general population of a regular prison unit. Or so they say.

Dottie Sandusky visited him today. Where he is, he gets a one hour visit per week, planned at least 24 hrs in advance. No sign of his kids.

I read about Ray Gricar, the former attorney general (whose wife had worked for Penn State and who decided NOT to prosecute Jerry Sandusky back in '98), who went missing in 2005 and has never been found. Very weird story.

I totally agree. Those college football players work hard. They had absolutely nothing to do with this. The new coach also had nothing to do with this.

I think his lawyer is just hoping, when he says he'll be placed in a sex offender facility. Maybe PA does it differently, but in general, to be eligible for one, an offender has to agree to undergo extensive daily therapy, submit to studies, etc.

There are usually waiting lists to get in and people who will be released have priority.

As to the general population, if he thinks he'll be welcomed and he's bored in protective custody (if he were primarily placed there), he can go if he wants.
