Sandusky- practical advice needed!

We're going to be at Sandusky in a week and a half. We're doing both Cedar Point and Soak City. We're staying at Sandcastle Suites. Is it right on the beach? Should we take buckets and shovels for sandcastles? Is there a beach inside Soak City and should we have buckets and such there?
Are there any unusual rules I should know about?
After having planned 2 WDW trips with the aid of these great boards I felt I knew it all when we went. But I can't find a board to ask questions for Sandusky! I just want it to be a good trip.
I want all the info I can get!

If you are at CP during the weekend of August 1st, you must join us for RiddleCON. It looks like there may be around 100 DISers at CP that weekend.

We just stayed at Sandcastle Suites a few weeks back. While it is located right on the lake shore, I don't recall seeing a beach. It does have a nice pool though. I don't believe Soak City has a beach either.

If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to try and answer them.

Thanks for the invite but we aren't arriving till the 3rd. Never been to CP and we are really looking forward to it. It would have been great to have been in the parks with other Disers oh well maybe if I wear my lime green ribbion a few might be left over.

We're leaving Sandusky on Aug. 1st!!
I'm not riding Top Thrill Dragster, or probably anything else for that matter! LOL!! I get dizzy watching people turn in circles, let alone riding in circles. My dh has every intention of riding it though, as does our dd9!! I think that's what worries me most about our whole trip!
NO beach!??! But it had a reference to a beach and the picture I saw had a beach.

Some of the RiddleCONers will be arriving Thursday night. My family is staying at the Days Inn across the street from the Sandusky Mall. We have ressies for 3 nights. I don't know if we'll be heading over to the park on Thursday night or not. Perhaps we'll see you before you have to leave for home. There may still be DISers at the parks on Sunday August 3rd too.

I stand corrected. I just checked a map (http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/inside_park/map/pdf/cpmap_lg_03.pdf Sand Castle Suites is in the upper left, just be the 2 road circles) and there does indeed appear to be a beach at Sand Castle Suites. We were almost never there during the daylight as we spent all of our time in the park, so I must have missed it. A beach wasn't really a priority with us, so I never really looked for one.

Sorry about the misinformation. So much for my powers of observation.

I'll be at Cp July 29th and possibly 30th. Last I knew Sand Caslte suites does have some beach type by it as does Soak city but I wouldn't bother hauling showels and pails to soak city.

funhouse8, that is the perfect site for planning a visit to CP. I was on ThrillNetwork's forums and was abused when I asked about area hotels. CPOL covers everything, a DIS for CP!

Yes, Sandcastles does have a beach and you can also use the beach down by the Breakers.

Don't forget to call 1-800 BEST FUN for lots of CP coupons, a map of the park, etc!!!!
