Sanaa Lunch or Dinner?

We're going down to WDW in June for my bday, and plan on going to Sanaa for one of the days. I had a reservation for 6:25pm but I'm wondering if we'll miss Rivers of Light (which, I know we don't know when it's happening or what time it will be), and was thinking it might be better to go to the park, then leave for lunch and eat at Sanaa, and then return to the park for the afternoon and evening.

Anyone have any idea which might be better? We've done Sanaa for dinner before and it was one of our favorite meals we've had at Disney. But thinking lunch would still be fun and then we'd just do Flame Tree BBQ or something for dinner.

(I'm completely overthinking this trip, and i know that, and i'm ok with it)

I am hoping for the same thing, too. I'm thinking that I will try for a 5:00 dinner reservation with the hopes of getting back to the park for whatever will be scheduled. Plus a better chance of getting a table by the window.

We always do lunch as early as we can and request a window seat. All the wonderful flavors are still there plus fabulous views of the animals. I also love to do a bigger meal at lunch and be able to walk it off. Throw Rivers of Light into the mix ... I would do lunch.

We may not make a reservation at Sanaa after all. I just read a post about dinner and breakfast packages for the Rivers of Light showing up on someones phone app. They did not get to make the reservation though because it wasn't available but it did show up. So my guess is they are working on getting them ready to book.

And surprise it was for Tusker House - breakfast, lunch and dinner packages, and three shows. Past discussion was Tiffins was going to get packages, not Tusker, so now I wonder if Yak & Yeti will get them as well.

was there pricing availability for this? very interesting indeed if that is the intent. I have my plans and won't be able to book til june for december so things should have shaken out by then but I have in my plans TH for breakfast and Tiffins for dinner. Not sure it will matter either way since we are planning to use the DxDDP buuuut interesting nonetheless.

No pricing showed and you couldn't book through.
My guess is it will be similar to Fantasmic style pricing especially if they add Tiffins and Yak & Yeti, as they are comparable prices.
Just guessing if these all apply ....
Tiffins will compare to Brown Derby.
Tusker will compare to Hollywood & Vine.
Yak & Yeti will compare to Mama Melrose.
Look at those for ideas.

yeah in my spreadsheet i just put in HBD prices for Tiffin dinner package for my speculation :) I just wonder which will work out better timewise as well, doing a breakfast package or a dinner one.

With regards to the original question, we have done Sanaa for lunch and it worked out great as it was a nice break from the hotness that is Animal Kingdom and was a pretty quick ride over there. Also the restaurant was fairly empty and we got a great table right by the window

Only negative is that they don't offer the Braaivleis sampler at lunch

I did read about the rumor Tusker House dining package as well. We currently have a breakfast booked for there when we go in June so hoping it won't be an issue to change it to a dining package

just changed the reservation to lunch, will be nice to take a break from the park midday. plus, i'm interested in seeing what happens with ROL.

Just wanted to add for people considering Sanaa for lunch... If you were planning on ordering the bread service, appetizer, entrée and desert, do consider the "Lunch With an Animal Expert" at Sanaa. All the food listed above and very interesting conversation for $49, including tax and gratuity. The food alone costs about that much if ordered off the menu.

I will throw my two cents in here as well...

We ate at Sanaa for lunch last January and it was my favorite meal of the trip! We had seats right by the windows, the food was reasonably priced, and the food tasted great. I really enjoyed the lunch reservation there!
