We went to supper at Sanaa tonight. This was our third time there (once before for supper and once for lunch) and I am growing to like it more and more.

I really like the decor there. It raises up like trees with leaves overhead. And of course the animals are outside. The animal kingdom lodge (kidami plus jambo) has one of the largest collections of African art in the US, and some of this is on display here.

Some guys were playing drums tonight in the entrance and that was sort of fun and set the mood.

We ordered the bread platter to start. If you haven't been there, you have the choice of three breads and three dips. This time we picked Naan, naan, and naan for the bread, because everyone likes it. For dips we like the tamarind bbq, the red chile, and the pepper hummus. Sissy got some soup with her children's meal and made good use of it as a dip for the bread.

Our son got the children's fish meal. He liked it.

I think it was from the same arctic char as the adult entree.

I had the steak, and I really enjoyed it. I'd had the curry choice before and the lamb kafka. But I prefer the steak. I liked the potato and spinach salad it was served with. I put the tamarind bbq sauce and pepper sauce that was left over from the bread service to good use.

Outside the window the giraffes were putting on a good show.

I had the sampler for desert. There were three samples. One was a mangoish passion fruit ice cream, which was very good. I wasn't a huge fan of the chocolate cake. But I was a huge fan of the chai cream. That was my favorite desert I've had in a while. I didn't think to take a picture of it, but here is the children's desert.

It was a good meal in a good setting. Honestly, I've been to Jiko three or four times, and right now I'm liking Sanaa more. I like the total gestalt more - the setting, the bread service. But I like curries and spice though, so your milage may vary. I honestly liked the steak here better than the filet with the mac and cheese and jiko, but I was never a huge fan of the sauce there, so again, ymmv. The service tonight was great, and we all felt very comfortable. There were a couple of slow spots, but overall it was great service.

The arctic char entree is something so memorable, I still rave about it. :goodvibes

I'd love to know more about the Arctic Char entree
What was the broth it is served in?

Thanks for your post! We are going to try Sanaa in November... I keep hearing great things about it :yay:

It's a fish broth, I don't know much more about it.
